Birbal Khosla (1938-2023) was a veteran Indian actor. He is best known for his supporting role as a prisoner in the Bollywood Diamond Jubilee film Sholay (1975). He died of cardiac arrest in 2023 at the age of 84.

Birbal Khosla was born Sadinder Kumar Khosla on Friday, October 28, 1938, in Gurdaspur, Punjab, British India (now Gurdaspur, Punjab, India) Satinder Kumar Khosla (age 84; death). His zodiac sign is Scorpio. He studied at Hira Lal Jain High School in New Delhi. After completing his studies, Birbal enrolled in Delhi University. He also studied in a college in Jalandhar. While in college, he often watched movies starring Kishore Kumar and became interested in acting.

Profession
Before his debut, Birbal Khosla played a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it role in a song in Ram Dayal’s film “Raja”. This movie was released in the 1960s. He made his supporting role debut in the 1966 Hindi film Do Badan, starring Manoj Kumar and Asha Parekh, playing Mohan’s teammate .
He rose to fame after playing the role of Baanchcharam in V. Shantaram’s film “Boond Jo Ban Gayi Moti” in 1967. Birbal often attributes his success to Raj Khosla and Manoj Kumar, as he appeared in many of their films, including Upkar (1967), Mera Saaya (1966), Mera Gaon Mera Desh (1971), Roti Kapda Aur Makaan (1974), and Kranti (1981). In 1970, he played a circus surgeon in Raj Kapoor’s romantic drama Mera Naam Joker. He came to prominence after playing a half-bearded prisoner in the 1975 hit Hindi film Sholay, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra Rise up.
His last film was the 2022 Hindi comedy film “10 Nahi 40”, in which he played the lead role of Birbal.

He died of cardiac arrest on September 12, 2023, at Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai. His last rites were performed on September 13, 2023. Many Bollywood actors mourned his death.

- In the first days of his acting career, he often worked small jobs. During that time, he also worked on daily wages.
