FACEBOOK users couldn’t believe their eyes when a person on Marketplace put up what appeared to be huge lamps for sale.
But take a closer look and you’ll realize that all is not as it seems.

From the angle of the photo, the lamps look like two huge gray clock tower bells set on the grass.
“That’s one of the most convincing illusions I’ve seen in a long time,” said one user.
“It took me quite a while to figure it out.”
Another admitted: “I’m at work looking at this like an idiot, just realized.”
A third, puzzled viewer added: “I don’t think I’ll ever have one, I just accepted they were huge.”
Actually, the lamps are usually small.
If you look up, you’ll notice that they’re actually hanging from a wire.
Because they are photographed up close and at an angle to the garden lawn, the lamps appear enormous.
As some have noted, the rust and debris around the edge also adds to the effect.
As we have seen in other recent optical illusions, the camera can be very tricky.
For example, there is an awesome video showing a corgi being thrown out of a plane into the air.
