News recently broke that a California father took his own life before killing his 7-year-old son. It seems that everyone was shocked after hearing this news and everyone started searching the internet to know more about it. According to authorities, this case appears to be very similar to a murder-suicide. Blaine Paddock and his youngest son, whose name has not been released, were found unresponsive at their residence in the upscale Los Angeles suburb of Thousand Oaks Tuesday night, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.
According to authorities, a man called 911 shortly before 7 p.m. to report a possible suicide at a home in the 2300 block of Chiquita Lane. Inside the house, Paddock and his youngest son were dead when officers arrived. The father was pronounced dead at the scene by the ambulance. At the Los Robles Regional Medical Center, where his death was later confirmed, his son was transferred there. Following autopsies on the father and child, the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the child’s cause of death as strangulation. The medical term for hanging, ligature strangulation, is how Paddock died. It was established that he committed suicide.
At the Paddock residence, detectives from the sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit executed a search warrant. What they discovered and whether the father wrote a goodbye letter, they did not disclose. According to investigators, there are no other suspects in the murder-suicide. The actual motive was not immediately known.
