Blake Lively Celebrates 'Denim Sister' America Ferrera After Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants Reunion

The actresses reunited with their co-stars from the 2005 film for a special screening of ‘Barbie’ on Friday in New York

Blake Lively celebrates two decades of friendship with America Ferrer.

The Gossip girl star, 36, shared a carousel of snaps with Ugly Betty alum on Monday as the couple attended a special screening to celebrate 39-year-old Ferrera’s role in Barbie movie.

They were joined by their ex at an event held by SAG-AFTRA in New York on Friday Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants starring Amber Tamblyn and Alexis Bledel. And Lively took the opportunity to celebrate her special friendship with Ferrer.

The mother of four captioned her Instagram post from the event: “I was so happy to celebrate my denim sister @americaferrera. She is the heart and soul of @barbiethemovie because she is the heart and soul of everything she is a part of.”

Lively continued, “I’ve known her for 20 years. Since I was 16, I have watched her live, grow, rise, fall, create, break, push, fight, win, create, forge, disrupt, create, lead, lead, lead.”

The Age of Adaline star also mentioned Ferrera’s famous Barbie monologue: “That speech she gave as Gloria was as close to real as anything I’ve ever seen on screen. Because that’s her. She is spectacular, passionate, inspiring and full of heart in her own life.”

Lively concluded her tribute: “I can’t wait to watch her sweep the awards across her living room floor. No one deserves it more… for a lifetime of brilliant work. It is one of my life’s honors to witness her show to so many women, not only what is possible, but HOW to do it. I love your sister. Constantly.”

And mentioning the 2005 film they starred in together, she added, “Pants = love. He loves his sisters. Love yourself.”

In the comments section of the post, Ferrera wrote: “🥹 When your girlfriend gives good hype. I love you forever sis. 🥹 💕.”

The pictures shared included a casual selfie of Lively and Ferrera alongside Tamblyn, 40, and Bledel, 42. The group were also pictured dressed up for the screening, with Lively opting for a Barbie-pink Oscar de la Renta feather mini dress, while Ferrera wore a white wrap dress. Bledel was in red, while Tamblyn also wore the color of the night, in a pink pantsuit.

Ferrera also shared a video clip from Saturday’s event featuring her four former colleagues and audio Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.

Alongside the heartwarming clip, she posted: “The sorority came all in pink to celebrate my performance in Barbie last night. I love those women with all my heart.”

Fellow actress Reese Witherspoon commented, “I love this friendship!” while Eva Longoria wrote: “Oh my heart just skipped a beat!!! 💖💖💖.”
