Blake Lively has always been a big fan of filmmaker Baz Luhrmann.
On Sunday, November 3 Gossip Girl The alum, 37, paid tribute to her good friend Luhrmann, 62, in an Instagram post, revealing she’s had a photo of him on her wall since she was a teenager – and it’s still there.
Lively shared a series of photos showing the stunning Tamara Ralph diamond necklace she wore paired with a voluminous, tangerine-orange silk taffeta cape at the LACMA Art + Film Gala in Los Angeles on Saturday. The star-studded event paid tribute to Luhrmann and artist Simone Leigh.
The actress captioned the post, “@bazluhrmann was the first and only signed poster I was lucky enough to have on my wall when I was a teenager. It’s still on my wall today. Knowing him will always be surreal.”

Lively also posted a picture of herself photographing a robed Luhrmann while barefoot in a minidress, as well as some additional photos showing the Australian director posing in the dark next to an illuminated palm tree.
Among the many shots, Lively embraced Luhrmann as the pair posed with their backs to the camera. They also posed for a selfie.
Lively added in her caption, referring to their little photoshoot: “He’s even more mischievous and magical in real life. He’s going to grab your hand and run away from the gala with you for an impromptu photo shoot because he’s inspired by everything, your cape and a palm tree is all he needs to see the excitement.”

“He’ll be delighted to play along when you ask to put your cape on him so you can take a photo of him in the pose he’s subliminally labeled as the trademark of every girl who grew up in the mind of the ’90s,” she continued.
“Baz™️ serves not only as your inspiration, your creativity, your possibility, and your unfiltered joy, but he’s the match and igniter for that. He’s happiest when you’re happiest. That goes for strangers, friends, colleagues,” the It ends with us the star divides.

In the description, Lively also praised the “extraordinary” artist Leigh, as well as the team that created her incredible look.

Lively’s announcement comes after she starred in a Luhrmann-directed cinematic teaser for VogueSeptember 2024 edition.
The mom of four starred as “Cat” in the Hitchcock-inspired series titled “Heart Robber.” A close friend of her husband Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, appeared as her co-star, L’Ombre.
