Blue Beetle Post-Credit Scene Count Revealed By Early Screenings

Summary

  • Blue Beetle, the first character of the new DC Universe reboot, has his solo film’s post-credits scenes count revealed.
  • Other DCEU movies with the same number of post-credits scenes as Blue Beetle include Justice League, Shazam!, The Suicide Squad, and Shazam! Fury of the Gods.
  • Blue Beetle’s post-credits scenes should be aimed at teasing more standalone adventures for the character or teasing the new DC Universe.

DC’s upcoming movie, Blue Beetle, gets its post-credits scene count revealed by early screenings. Blue Beetle‘s story focuses on Xolo Maridueña’s Jaime Reyes, who will emerge as the first movie character of the new DC Universe reboot, as has been confirmed by DC Studios’ creative chief James Gunn. With Blue Beetle being the first character from the new DCU to be introduced, it is possible that one of the film’s post-credits scenes will tease the new universe.

On Twitter, journalist Luke Bugg confirmed that Blue Beetle has two post-credits scenes after having seen the film in an early screening.

Similarly, DC fan @Josh62488 also confirmed that the movie has two post-credits scenes, teasing that there is “more story to tell!” The fan also shared photos with Blue Beetle director Ángel Manuel Soto on a premiere party for the movie.

How Blue Beetle’s Post-Credit Scene Count Compares To Other DCEU Movies

Blue Beetle next to the Justice League from the DCEU

By having two post-credits scenes, Blue Beetle sits among the movies with the most end-credits scenes in all the DCEU. That makes sense, as the movie was thought of as only the start of Jaime’s cinematic journey, and with the character confirmed to move over into the DC Universe, it is possible that an extra scene setting up his place in the DCU was filmed.

Also with two post-credits scenes are Justice League, Shazam!, The Suicide Squad and Shazam! Fury of the Gods. Zachary Levi’s second movie as Shazam was in a very similar place to Blue Beetle, with both DC flicks being created as part of the DCEU but being standalone enough in its story that their lead heroes could move over to the new DC Universe with almost no issues. However, due to Shazam! Fury of the Gods‘ poor performance, Blue Beetle might be the only one of the two to join Gunn’s DC Universe.

The DCEU movies all had either two, one, or zero post-credits scenes. Interestingly, the DCEU’s first two movies, 2013’s Man of Steel and 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice had no post-credits scenes despite being responsible for setting up the universe’s main story. Wonder Woman finishes the list of DCEU releases that had no post-credits scenes, with the other movies not mentioned all having one end-credits scene. As long as its post-credits scenes aren’t used for Blue Beetle to repeat the MCU’s Iron Man mistake, rather teasing more standalone adventures for the character or a look into the DC Universe, then Blue Beetle is using its post-credits scenes right.
