Bluey gets the big screen treatment!
The feature film, based on the hugely popular Australian animated preschool series, was officially announced today Good morning America Tuesday, December 17. It will be a Ludo Studio production of BBC Studios and the Walt Disney Company.
“Providing the same charm and humor that made the television series a global phenomenon, the film will continue the adventures of Bluey, an adorable, inexhaustible, blue heeler dog, who lives with her mom, dad and younger sister Bingo,” reads the text. press release on Tuesday.
Joe Brumm, who created the series, said in a statement: “I really enjoyed the experience of working with the longer format on ‘The Sign’ in [season] 3, so going forward with a feature film seems like a natural extension of that. I always thought Bluey it deserved a theatrical film.”

Brumm went on to say that he wants the upcoming film to be “an experience that the whole family can enjoy together.”
“I’m excited to continue working with Cecilia Persson, Tom Fussell and the team at BBC Studios, as well as Dan Walden, Alan Bergman and Disney to bring this new Bluey story on the big screen,” he added.
While no specific plot information has been revealed, the film’s voice cast will include Melanie Zanetti and David McCormack as Bluey’s mom Chilli and dad Bandit. Bluey composer Joff Bush will create new music for the film.
The Bluey the film is set for a theatrical release in 2027, followed by a streaming release on Disney+.
