Robert Lovell is the owner and CEO of HMS, Inc.
early life
When he was 11 years old, his father suffered a major accident that left him permanently disabled. To support his family, Bob began working six days a week after school. His mother began working as a laundry launderer at the convent, and his father was hospitalized for about three more years. A few months later, his mother fell down the stairs of the convent while carrying a heavy load.
Bock then took over all financial responsibilities on his shoulders. He’s been selling the magazine door-to-door for about six years. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the army. After graduating from high school in 1968, he served in the Army from 1968 to 1971. However, two years later he was discharged from the Army to care for his disabled parents. At that time, his mother’s foot was amputated due to diabetes.
Bob then entered the insurance industry. He was equally successful in this regard. He then took a job in Europe examining the insurance needs of U.S. soldiers serving overseas. He used his earnings to buy a house in Florida and moved his parents into the house. In 1992, my mother passed away, and in 1994, my father also passed away. He then moved to Dallas, Texas and started a real estate business.
home marketing services
In January 1997, he founded a real estate company called HMS (Home Marketing Services, Inc.) to help people buy their own homes instead of becoming renters. Within 20 years, HMS helped approximately 10,000 families purchase their own homes.
His brother, who lives in Minnesota, is facing severe financial hardship and is selling furniture to get insulin doses. Bob then decided to move his brother and his brother’s wife Jane to Florida and bought them a small house. He helps his brother have a stable income. However, his brother passed away due to diabetes.
Bob successfully ran his business without even going to college. He ensured that his only daughter completed her education and received a double master’s degree. His daughter even served in the military like her father, Bob.
Over the past 28 years, HMS’s journey has not been easy. Some of the issues HMS has faced include the 2008 recession, rising interest rates, inventory (housing) shortages during COVID-19, massive theft of funds by employees, and two frivolous lawsuits seeking free money.
Bob successfully overcomes all obstacles and helps people realize the American dream of homeownership.
Because of his work, he was called “Bless Your Heart.”
