Today, the Edmonton Oilers announced that they have renewed the contract of Bob Stauffer, the city’s top full-time hockey analyst. Stauffer will continue to serve as anchor and color analyst for all episodes of “Oilers on 630 CHED” and “Oilers Lunch” on The TEAM 1260.
“Oilers fans are passionate about their club, and Bob brings them all the Oilers news they could want. Bob engages the team, players and fans like never before as our color radio commentator on 630 CHED and the Oilers Radio Network and fan-favorite insider, according to Patrick LaForge, Oilers president and CEO. “We appreciate his unwavering enthusiasm and commitment to the fans.”
Stauffer will continue to host the popular “Oilers Lunch” show, which airs Monday through Friday between 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm on The TEAM 1260 am Radio. This is almost as significant. As Oilers Lunch’s audience expands, LaForge continued, “We believe Bob has much more to contribute as we continue to develop all of our radio and media components.”
Stauffer began his broadcasting career as a volunteer with CJSR Edmonton Radio, then rose to the position of communications officer at the University of Alberta Athletics, where he specialized as a play-by-play announcer for the Golden Bears football and hockey teams. He has also held various positions for ITV (now Global TV), Molstar, Fox, ESPN, Hockey Night in Canada and Sportsnet.
With today’s announcement that Bob Stauffer will serve as the Oilers’ radio announcer, half of the broadcast team is ready for the upcoming season. The name of the Oilers’ new radio voice will be announced later this summer.
