Bobbie Jean Carter’s eight-year-old daughter Bella is being cared for by her grandmother Jane following her mother’s sudden death, a Carter family source confirmed exclusively to PEOPLE.
Multiple sources previously told PEOPLE that Nick and Aaron Carter’s sister died Saturday at the age of 41, and that the family believes she went into cardiac arrest at home. (Further details about what led to her death remain unclear.)
The family insider also adds that Bobbie Jean Carter will be buried in her home state of Florida.

Bobbie Jean Carter, sister of Aaron and Nick Carter, dies at 41
On Saturday, Jane paid tribute to her late daughter in a statement to TMZ.
“I am in shock to learn of the sudden death of my daughter, Bobbie Jean, and it will take time for me to come to grips with the terrible reality of this happening for the third time,” the matriarch said, referring to the death of her son Aaron, who died at 34. in November 2022 and daughter Leslie, who died in 2012.
“[H]”However deeply a parent feels the loss of a child, the suffering of a young child over the loss of a parent must be much greater,” added Jane. “So, I would like to ask the sympathizers to pray for my precious eight-year-old granddaughter, Bella, who previously lost her father and now has lost her mother as well.”
“When I can think clearly I will release a fuller statement, but until then I would ask that you leave me alone to grieve,” Jane continued.

Before her death, Bobbie Jean led a mostly private life with her daughter Bella. According to TMZ, she worked as a wardrobe and makeup artist for her younger brother Aaron’s tours during the early 2000s.

On Sunday morning, younger sister Bobbie Jean and Aaron’s twin sister, Angel Carter Conrad, shared an emotional tribute.
“To my older sister Bobbie. You had a great sense of humor and a lively spirit. Growing up, I was your baby and you were my best friend,” Conrad, 36, wrote on Instagram. “Life hasn’t been fair to you, I know that. Sometimes it seems like you didn’t stand a chance, no matter what.”
“I know why Leslie, Aaron, and now you ended up in the circumstances you are in,” Conrad continued. “I share the pain we experienced during our childhood and I’m sorry that you didn’t have a chance for a better life.”
“The generational dysfunction is ending now,” Conrad wrote, directing her followers to On Our Sleeves, an organization that offers free, expert-written mental health resources to children. “I love you BJ, you’re free now.”
Bobbie Jean’s death marks the latest tragedy for the Carter family, which has dealt with financial problems, divorce and addiction problems for years.
