Bobby Brown Reveals Sweet Reason He and His Wife ‘Do a Lot of Hugging and Kissing’ in Front of Their Kids (Exclusive)

Love is always in the air within the Brown household.

Grammy-winning singer Bobby Brown, 55, and his wife of 11 years, Alicia Etheredge-Brown, 50, keep each other close, especially at home in front of the kids.

“Every day we try to find time for each other,” Brown tells PEOPLE exclusively of prioritizing quality time with Etheredge-Brown, with whom he has three children: Cassius, 14, Bodhi, 8, and Hendrix, 7. “It’s important to stay grounded , stay in touch with the love we have for each other.”

The New Edition star fully displays this love in her home. “We hug and kiss a lot in front of the children to show them that love is real,” he says. “What we feel for each other is real.”

Brown and Etheredge-Brown recently celebrated the life of his late daughter, Bobbi Kristina, by hosting the fourth annual Bobbi Kristina Serenity House Gala: A Night of Inspiration, Empowerment and Hope in Los Angeles on March 4.

Bobbi Kristina died aged 22 in 2015 after being found unresponsive in a bathtub at the home she shared with ex Nick Gordon – a chilling parallel to the way her mother died a few years earlier.

Brown, who is still grieving the loss, has been open in the past about his previous struggles with drug abuse and how he wishes he and ex-wife Whitney Houston could have been better examples for their daughter.

“How much quality time can you spend with your daughter when you’re high all the time?” he wrote in his candid memoir from 2016 Every little step. “I would get really mad at Whitney and scream and yell that I wanted a divorce. It went on for years and years. Our daughter saw it all. When I think about it now, I just feel so much pain. We failed her.”

Brown, who has been sober for years, is also mourning the loss of his son Bobby Brown, Jr., who died at age 28 from an accidental overdose. “I tend to dream about both of them, my son and my daughter, which helps,” he says now of imagining his deceased children. “Just being able to see their faces and see them smile helps me a lot.”

When it comes to his youngest children, their dad couldn’t be more proud. “My son is a great little kid. He’s just a cool little guy,” she says of Cassius. “He likes to act and sing and dance.” As for his daughters, “The little ladies love gymnastics. They’re flippers. They definitely keep us busy.”

Brown returns to Vegas soon for the second New Edition hit residency at Wynn Encore. During the first show a few months ago, he says Etheredge-Brown was there to witness him and the band’s loyal female fan base.

“I think Alicia handles it well,” he says of the iconic boyband’s fans. Plus, he adds with a laugh, “They’re really calm these days. They’re still screaming, but they’re a little slower than they used to be. They’re not chasing us anymore. They’re coming up to us.”

As for Brown, he stayed focused on his wife, and she helped him stay away from distractions. “It was good to have her there in Vegas,” he says, “because Vegas is one of those towns where you find yourself at the poker tables, the blackjack tables. So being there really kept me away from all that junk.”
