Body found during search for woman missing for nearly a week after CCTV showed last sighting

Police found the body during a search for a woman who had been missing for almost a week.

Cleveland police released a CCTV image of Angela Simpson earlier this week in a bid to find the 50-year-old.

Angela was last seen walking in the Ormesby area of ​​Middlesbrough at around 6.30pm on Sunday and police were “increasingly concerned”.

Police have now confirmed that they unfortunately found the body during an emergency search.

Although formal identification has yet to be completed, Angela’s family has been notified.

Now they are being assisted by specialist officers from Cleveland.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner, officers said.

In the previously released footage, Angela is seen walking along Kildwick Grove in Middlesbrough at around 6.20pm.

She then continues left onto Penrith Road, right onto Sandringham Road and is last seen approaching the junction with Overdale Road.

This is the last confirmed sighting of the mother as officers continue to search for her.

Angela is described as 5ft 8 tall and of slim build with dark brown hair, officers said.

She was wearing a pink or black jacket, black tights or black shorts and white and pink sneakers when she disappeared.

Officers have asked residents to check their CCTV footage and dash cams for any sightings.
