Boney Kapoor, 69 (born November 11, 1955), Bollywood film producer. He was born into a family of Punjabi film producers, originally named Achal Kapoor, who immigrated to India from Peshawar, Pakistan. When they arrived in Mumbai, his family initially stayed in Raj Kapoor’s garage. During those tough days, his family even lived in the ‘chawl’ area of Mumbai.
He inherited the production skills of his father, himself a noted filmmaker. While his brothers Anil Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor became actors, he continued his father’s legacy and chose to become a producer.

Boney Kapoor was born into a Punjabi-Khatri family with roots in Pakistan. His father late Surinder Kapoor was a famous producer and his mother Nirmal Kapoor was a housewife.
He has 3 brothers – Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Kapoor and a sister Reena Kapoor.
He had his first marriage in 1983 to television producer Mona Kapoor. All was going well until Sridevi started living in Boney’s house and for a time considered Boney her brother.
But fate had other plans. As time passed, Boney and Sridevi became closer and closer, and she became pregnant with Boney’s child.
This was obviously a shock to Mona, and her marriage fell apart after this. Boney married Sridevi in 1996 after leaving his first wife Mona and children Arjun and Anshula.
The couple later had two daughters, Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor. There were reports that Janhvi was born out of wedlock; however, Boney Kapoor later denied such claims in an interview. Speaking about this in an interview, Boney Kapoor said:
My second marriage, my marriage to Sri (happened in Shirdi). We got married on June 2nd. We exchanged vows, stayed there for one night, and didn’t find out she was pregnant until January and we had no choice but to get married publicly. The incident happened on June 2 in Shirdi. (But), publicly, we only got married in January (1997). That’s why some scribes still write that she (Janhvi) was born before marriage, and so on. “

Sridevi died of severe cardiac arrest in Dubai on February 24, 2018, and his married life was derailed.
Profession
Like his father, he always wanted to be a producer and began his career as an assistant editor in the 1970s. Later, he started working as an assistant director under Shakti Samanta. His first release, Hum Paanch (1980), was a multilingual remake that went on to become a trendsetter in Bollywood.
His production career culminated in the sci-fi film Mr. India, starring his brother Anil Kapoor and his future wife Sridevi. The film has become a classic in the Indian film industry for many reasons such as Sridevi’s song “Hawa Hawaii”, Amrish Puri’s line “Mogambo khush hua” (Mogambo khush hua) and the concept of the invisible man.

Silverware related to Boney Kapoor
On April 8, 2023, the Election Commission of India (ECI) seized 66 kilograms allegedly belonging to Boney Kapoor at a check post near Davangerekh Baru toll plaza in Karnataka Silverware worth Rs 3.9 million. According to reports, a BMW car owned by Boney Kapoor and registered to Bayview Projects Pvt Ltd transported the silverware from Chennai to Mumbai without proper documentation.
Suspect in Sridevi murder case
Boney Kapoor was embroiled in controversy after Sridevi passed away in Dubai on February 24, 2018. He is the main suspect in the case and was interrogated by Dubai police over Sridevi’s death. Speaking about the matter, Bonny revealed in an interview that he underwent multiple tests, including a polygraph test conducted by the Dubai Police; however, he was not found guilty. In the interview, he revealed that Sridevi used to follow a strict diet to stay in shape and look good on screen. He called Sridevi’s death an accident, but added that she initially fainted multiple times and doctors said she suffered from low blood pressure. Bonnie mentioned that actor Nagarjuna told him that Sridevi once fainted on a film set. Boney Kapoor said in an interview,
This is not a natural death; This was an accidental death. I decided not to talk about it because I had been talking about it for almost 24 or 48 hours while I was being investigated and interrogated. In fact, officials said we had to go through this because there was so much pressure from the Indian media. They found no foul play. I went through all the tests, including polygraph tests and all these things. Of course, subsequent reports clearly stated that this was an accident. “
