Booboo Stewart Cut His Long Hair Off to 'Switch It Up' as His Locks 'Became So Much' of His 'Identity'

Booboo Stewart gets candid about why he cut off his long hair.

The Good trouble star — who first showed off the new hairstyle in February — has been open about her decision to drastically change her look for the final episode Ned’s Survival Guide from the Declassified Podcast.

“I just had long hair for such a long time. Literally. It had to go,” Stewart, 30, said, adding that he had long locks since he was a kid and that his dad cut his and his sister’s bangs.

His long hair eventually “became so much” his “identity” in other people’s eyes, he said, stressing that he just wanted to “change” it.

“When they thought of me, they said, ‘Oh, the hair.’ You know?” he explained. “Like, ‘He’s got long hair. She has long hair.’ ”

“And I just wanted to change that,” he continued. “I just didn’t feel that way anymore. And I finished the TV show I was on, [and] I said, ‘OK. No more obligations.’ And I shaved it.”

The Descendants the actor noted that he had cut his hair short several times throughout his life, including while attending school “because everyone called me a girl” and for Twilight films, but his hair eventually became “long” again.

This time he was happy with the end product.

“It feels so good,” he said. “Yeah, I like it.”

When podcast host Daniel Curtis Lee, who noticed that he had kept his locks after the haircut, asked Stewart if he had kept his hair as well, the actor admitted that he had. “I still have it,” he said.

Podcast host Devon Werkheiser then asked him what he did with the excess hair, and Stewart jokingly said, “I pray for it…no, I don’t.” He said he kept the locks in a drawer in his bathroom instead.

Stewart initially introduced his new hairstyle with a photo on Instagram. In the video, he could be seen posing with his arms crossed in front of a window with light shining on the side of his head.

Soon after he showed off his new look, fans flooded his comments section to share their admiration and displeasure for the new look.

One user wrote: “How my mouth fell open… still in denial even though it suits him so well.”

“That was a plot and a half, it looks crazy cool,” another person added.
