Boruto’s Newest Chapter Sets Up Its Biggest Villain’s Return

Warning: Contains spoilers for Chapter 70 Boruto

next chapter Boruto It has just been released and with it comes some twists and turns. One of the biggest highlights of the new chapter is that the villain Code finally removes his limitations, making him even more powerful. The extent of his restored powers remains to be seen, but this event could be a sign of something else: the return of Isshiki Otsutsuki, who was the series’ biggest villain before its failure.

as one of Boruto A new villain, Code has complex origins and powers. Like Kawaki, Code was imbued with karma and was originally intended to be used as a vessel for Ipki, but was ultimately deemed unstable. He survived, and karma mutated him, giving him incredible powers. Although he was no longer a candidate for Isshiki’s vessel, his loyalty to Isshiki prevented him from being killed, and a limiter was installed in his body to limit his power.

Now, in Chapter 70 Boruto, the restrictions disappeared, and Code’s karma returned. This means that Isshiki is now likely to manifest himself in a different form at some point in the future. Code was unfit to be a vessel in the first place, but since Kawaki’s original karma was destroyed, Isshiki now has no choice but to be reincarnated into Code’s body. However, due to Code’s previous instability, Isshiki may not be able to fully express himself, resulting in a parasitic situation very similar to Boruto and Momoshiki’s.

But Isshiki was killed by Naruto, Sasuke, and Kawaki before Code was brought into the picture, so how could Isshiki be reincarnated into him? Just because Cord can’t access his karma through the Limiter doesn’t mean it’s still not built into him. Therefore, when Yi Shi “dies”, his essence is reassembled in the only available vessel. That’s not to say Isshiki will return to being the series’ main villain. This would be a boring twist and a waste of Cord, who has yet to reach his full potential as a villain. Isshiki will most likely guide Code and allow him to carry out his will, and as a loyal follower and admirer of Kara, Code is more than happy to follow Isshiki’s plans.

While this is all speculation, the comic seems to have set up all of these elements on purpose. Boruto Chapter 70 saw Code regain his powers, and with that came the possibility of the series’ previous villains returning. Hopefully Boruto, Kawaki and the other shinobi of Konoha are ready.
