Paying tribute to him today, Ryan’s devastated mum said: “Ryan was a wonderful, caring boy with a cheeky smile and a wicked, cheeky sense of humour.
“He was loved so much by me, his family and everyone who knew him. We are all very heartbroken that he was taken from us.”
Specialist officers are supporting Ryan’s family as detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit continue to investigate the incident.
In a statement released on December 24, South Yorkshire Police said: “As part of our investigation the driver of the vehicle involved, a 29-year-old woman from Andover, was arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit due to drugs.
“She has been released from police custody but remains under investigation pending further investigation.”
South Yorkshire Police are now appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident with information, CCTV or CCTV to come forward.
The force previously said: “Investigations are ongoing following reports of a road traffic accident in Sheffield.
“Just before 1pm yesterday, officers were in the Hyde Park Walk area in a pre-planned operation.
“While in the area, a black Ford Fiesta believed to be stolen responded to a police presence and attempted to flee the scene.”
After a short chase, the black Fiesta crashed into a wall.
East Bank Road was closed for a while while officers carried out their work, but has since reopened.
Force added: “The 18-year-old boy was transported to the hospital where he unfortunately died as a result of his injuries.
“His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.”
