Boyz II Men Reunite with Rarely Seen Former Member Michael McCary and Tease Reunion: ‘It’s Coming’ (Exclusive)

This may not be the end of the road for the original Boyz II Men quartet.

Twenty-one years after leaving Boyz II Men due to health issues, Michael McCary, the fourth member of the famous R&B group, returned to the stage with his “brothers” on Friday night, August 30th. Although he did not perform with the group during the penultimate show of their Las Vegas residency, he hinted that a reunion could be on the way.

“There will be another day when we’re all on stage together, believe me,” McCary, 52, told the audience gathered at the Cosmopolitan’s Chelsea Theatre. “It’s coming, and I love these guys.”

McCary was plagued by back problems for two decades, and was eventually diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. His health and rumors of infighting caused him to leave the band in 2003 and he largely withdrew from the public eye.

McCary shared his diagnosis during an appearance on the reality show in 2016 Iyanla, fix my lifeaccording to Vibe.

On Friday, Shawn Stockman tried to squash the rumors that have long followed McCary’s departure.

“Let me tell you something, all that with… is wrong. All that [is] false, 100%,” he said before calling McCary on stage. “Yes, did we have disagreements? That. Did we have our differences? That. But this man is still our brother and will always be our brother until the day we die.”

In rare public appearances, McCary has been seen using a cane, but on Friday he walked on stage unaided before embracing Stockman, 51, and fellow Boyz II Men members Wanya Morris and Nathan Morris.

In March 2022, McCary and Wanya, 51, had a mini-reunion backstage during a New Edition concert in Vegas, but Friday marked what is believed to be McCary’s first public reunion with the full group.

Stockman put an end to rumors of mutual conflicts. “Witness the brotherhood, the bond forever that is forever,” he told the crowd in Las Vegas on Friday.

“This will never change, no matter what we go through, no matter what decisions we make, no matter what we do in our lives. We are men, and sometimes men have to leave [in] in different directions,” he added.

Stockman continued, “That’s what happens in life. All you people who have something bad to say, stop acting like you don’t have your own problems with your own stuff with your own people. This is our brother.”

However, some rumors seem to have some truth to them. In 2021, Stockman claimed McCary slammed him into a table during a fight. He also implied that McCary lacked the motivation and work ethic of the trio.

“Let me start this audio by saying, we loved Mike, we always loved Mike, he’s our brother for life. He’s always the brother, okay? Let’s get that out of the way,” Stockman said FAQ Podcast in 2021, claiming that McCary is retracting his no-shows.

“Again, I love Mike, but I’ve had it,” he continued. “It was like, dude, you can’t keep doing this to us. So, to make a long story short, we’re in it, we’re fighting.”
