Brandi Mallory’s Cause of Death Revealed: Extreme Weight Loss Star Died From ‘Complications of Obesity’

Brandi Mallory’s cause of death has been revealed.

According to the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s completed autopsy report released Tuesday, Ex Extreme weight loss the competitor died from complications of obesity.

The document also lists the manner of death as “natural”. An autopsy found “no evidence of significant recent injury” and the investigation found no signs of foul play, the report said. The report said there were traces of marijuana and alcohol in her body, but they did not contribute to her death, according to the medical examiner.

The Atlanta Police Department reported that Mallory was last seen Nov. 8 on surveillance video while driving to a local Chipotle around 5:53 p.m. She entered the restaurant, returned to her food truck, but never left.

The owner of a nearby deli told police he noticed a lone vehicle in the parking lot the next morning, noting that a woman was asleep inside, according to the documents. The man reportedly became concerned and called 911 a few hours later when he noticed the car was still there and the woman inside “did not appear awake, conscious or breathing.”

The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office previously confirmed to PEOPLE that the former reality star died Nov. 9 at the age of 40 after being found in her car.

Following her death, friends and family gathered in Stone Mountain, Georgia on November 20 to pay their last respects to the star.

“You gave us all 40 fantastic years through fitness, fun, laughter and your amazing personality,” her friend wrote on Facebook. “Girl you were over the moon with love and your sisters showed up and showed us we love you Brandi. But God loves you the most!”

A public viewing was held on November 19, and a funeral was held on November 20 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Tucker, Georgia. Mallory is buried in Melwood Cemetery in Stone Mountain, Ga.

Previous Extreme weight loss trainer and host Chris Powell told PEOPLE that Mallory was a “shining, shining light to everyone around her,” reflecting on how he grew close to the former reality star during their time together on the show.

Powell, 45, boasted that “you could feel how free she was” and how much Mallory, a dance instructor who promoted body positivity on social media, had inspired others before her death.

“That girl knew how to dance. And she always brought that energy to everything we did,” he said. “She really owned the bodypositivity movement. It was great because she was very open about her weight struggles and everything, but the fact that she would just come out and just express herself completely, you could feel how free she was. And that in turn has inspired so many other people to join in and accept and embrace and value their bodies.”

“I just loved it because she became a symbol of that for so many people,” Powell added.
