Devinashlee Reed gave birth to Brandon Reed in Florida in 2008. As a young skater, he competed in various skateboarding events, demonstrating remarkable ability and enjoying considerable success. He was ranked 1111th in the global skateboarding rankings of all time.
Similarly, it ranked 747th and 1915th respectively in the Street and Park Global rankings. He also rode for Surfcity and Oxynfree stores, showing a strong affinity for their skateboarding gear. Unfortunately, skater Brandon passed away on January 16, 2024 after a long battle with cancer.

Reed’s obituary is a moving tribute to a life that impacted so many individuals in this close-knit community. Many individuals were touched by his life. Furthermore, his mother and sister, Ella Reed, outlive him, without any knowledge of their father. When something unexpected happened, the skater succeeded and enjoyed life, expecting to play for a long time.
In November 2022, Brandon noticed a bump on his left forearm that had grown to the size of an egg. Later, Devon Reed, his mother, said a visit to a local clinic resulted in a biopsy at a Miami hospital, which revealed a cancer diagnosis. Brandon began therapy shortly after Thanksgiving, remaining optimistic about his outlook. Similarly, he expressed his desire to recover within two and a half years after undergoing therapy and returning to the board.
Brandon loved fishing
Besides skateboarding, Brandon had a great affinity for fishing. Brandon and a few friends spent their free time exploring the nearby waterways, fishing for snook and tarpon from their 15-foot boat. Plans to skate and fish were put on hold for several months after the cancer diagnosis. However, he eventually returned to his usual activities. Similarly, someone later referred Brandon to Make-A-Wish, a national group that grants wishes to children suffering from a variety of terrible illnesses.
The group grants about 300 wishes each week, and 87% of recipients say it was a turning point in their recovery journey. The Make-A-Wish Foundation contacted the Reed family to help make Brandon’s wish come true. At first, his mother respectfully declined the offer, asking the charity to help another child because Brandon already had everything he needed. In May, Brandon was contacted again by the Wish team and asked if he wanted to go flounder fishing in Alaska.
As an alternative, he was asked if he would go tuna fishing in San Diego. However, the Fort Pierce Bait dealer said his top three picks are clear: “White’s Tackle, White’s Tackle, White’s Tackle.” On June 16, 2023, Brandon entered the $4,000 Make-A-Wish game with his sister, mother, and a dozen friends. Brandon, who was transported in a Cisco limousine from West Palm Beach, spent hours selecting fishing rods, cast nets, lures and bait buckets to express his deep passion for fishing.
