Father-of-three David from Wales, his family said his provisional cause of death was blunt force trauma after he was hit in the back of the head, Wales Online reported.
His devastated family remembered him as an “absolutely amazing father, partner, son, brother and friend”.
David, called Dai, was the father of three young children – Aurora, four, Bear, two, and Vienne, one.
David’s sister-in-law Tammy Sheehan, cousin Gemma Thomas and partner Jola Simms revealed he returned from a family holiday on Thursday and then traveled to Prague on Friday for a stag party with friends.
By 10pm that night, Jola and Gemma received a terrifying call from David’s friend Nathan, who informed them that he was in a critical condition.
Family members flew to Prague, hoping that David would come to his senses.
But by Saturday afternoon, the heartbreaking decision was made to turn off the life support machines.
His family insisted that he was not involved in a fight but was the victim of a blind attack.
They said: “David was talking to locals in the street when he was hit in the back of the head.”
A French witness was said to have administered first aid at the scene in a desperate attempt to save him.
A devastating family tribute said he was the “glue of the family”.
It said: “We would describe David as someone who has the heart of a lion.
“He was a very family-oriented person. He was funny – he always brought energy.
“He was an absolutely amazing father, partner, son, brother and friend. Not a bad word can be said about him.”
A fundraising campaign has been set up to help Joli, who is now facing the challenge of being a single mother of three.
The family described the Czech authorities as “abrupt” and “blunt”, which they said made the horror experience even worse.
THE POLICE WILL MAKE AN ARRESTS
Czech media reported that a 26-year-old man – also a tourist – was arrested outside the hotel after the incident and has since been charged.
The nationality of the alleged attacker is not yet known.
According to Prague Morning, a local English-language publication, police said the men were part of separate groups that started fighting.
Police spokesman Jan Daněk said: “One person hit another in the head with a vodka bottle.
“The impact was so strong that the victim immediately collapsed and died tragically in the hospital.
“The 26-year-old man is now facing charges of grievous bodily harm and breach of public order.
“If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to 16 years in prison.”
HEARTS OF THE FOOTBALL CLUB
AFC Abercynon, where David played football, issued their own heartbreaking statement.
It is said: “The world has lost a good man – a father, a son and a brother.
“This is a loss for all of us, but the grief and sorrow that you as a family must feel is the deepest and the most poignant and the most personal.
“Dai touched the lives of many involved in our club and we are devastated by this terrible loss.
“As a club we are here for any support you need and we are all thinking of you at this sad time. Rest in peace Dai.”
