Police say Brown was over the legal alcohol limit when she hit the family

Police say Brown was speeding when her “out of control” car crashed into a group of pedestrians and killed a baby on Monday night.

The expat – who was filmed for the first time today – is believed to be working at a hotel in the popular resort of Playa Blanca where the accident happened.

He is expected to appear in court tomorrow where charges should be filed.

Yaize municipal police chief Vladimir Guadalupe told MailOnline: “The investigation is still ongoing and could last another week.

“The driver will appear in court, but I can’t say what the charges will be yet.

“The legal blood alcohol limit is 0.25 and this person was over that limit and the charge will reflect that.”

Brown, who is believed to live on the island with her parents, allegedly told police on the night of the crash that she had a steering problem that caused the crash.

The identity of the British family involved in the horrific accident has not yet been revealed.

The five-month-old’s parents and grandparents were also injured in Brown’s Ford Fiesta.

The father is reportedly in critical condition at a local hospital.

Officials also discovered that a Swedish mother and daughter had been hit by a car.

The mother had to be airlifted from the island to an intensive care unit in Gran Canaria after her heart reportedly stopped three times and had to be resuscitated.

The couple had only been in town for three hours when they were shot down.

The horrific accident happened at a bend in the main road near the Aqualava Water Park and the four-star HL Hotel.

Witnesses told police they thought she was going too fast and didn’t try to slow down before hitting the pavement.

The mayor of Yaiza, Oscar Noda, confirmed that all four Britons were injured in yesterday’s accident and are still in hospital today.

The city hall declared two days of mourning and organized a minute of silence.

Mr Noda said: “The accident caused seven casualties, including a five-year-old baby who died.

“The survivors came from two families, one from Sweden and the other from Britain.

“They are the parents of the child who died and the baby’s maternal grandparents.

“This morning, the baby’s father and maternal grandmother are in the worst condition. All the survivors are still in the hospital.

“We hope everyone recovers.”

Playa Blanca, White Beach in Spanish, is the southernmost town in Lanzarote, approximately 40 minutes’ drive from the island’s airport.

Just last month, an 83-year-old British tourist died after being run over by a bus in Lanzarote.

She was rushed to hospital in a “critical” condition after being hit by a vehicle in the popular Costa Teguise resort on February 21 and was stabilized at the scene.

And last September, two Britons were among seven injured when a British tourist drove his hire car into a crowded Spanish cafe on the neighboring Canary island of Fuerteventura.
