Britney Spears says her father made her go on a strict diet under her supervision – even when she begged for a hamburger.
In his new autobiography The woman in meThe pop megastar, now 41, claimed her father Jamie Spears allowed her to eat “pretty much nothing but chicken and canned vegetables” for two years.
“No matter how much I dieted and exercised, my father always told me I was fat. He put me on a strict diet. The irony was that we had a butler — an extravaganza — and I would beg him for real food,” Spears wrote. in his memoirs.
The “Lucky” singer explained that she would have asked him to “sneak her a hamburger or ice cream,” but he said he couldn’t because he had “strict orders” from her father.

“So for two years I ate almost nothing but chicken and canned vegetables,” she wrote, before noting that “two years is a long time to not be able to eat what you want, especially when it’s about your body, your job, and your the soul earns the money on which everyone lives.”
“I find it so humiliating,” she added.
Although Spears has claimed that living under her father’s watch was a traumatic, controlling period, Jamie, now 71, has repeatedly maintained that he acted in his daughter’s best interests.
“I love my daughter with all my heart and soul,” he said Daily mail in a 2022 interview, “They heard the allegations from Britney. I don’t mind that because I know it’s not true and I don’t want to start something else.”

On Tuesday – when her debut memoir was published, The woman in meis officially published — Spears thanked her fans on social media and said her book has already achieved historic success.
“It’s happening ✨🤓📖 !!! My book is the best selling celebrity memoir in history and it’s only day one!!!” began the description of her Instagram post. “Thank you to the fans who were so supportive!!! I love you all 🌹!!! #TheWomanInMe @gallerybooks @simonandschuster.”
The title was shared alongside a photograph of her book cover with the words: “My story. On my terms. Finally”, with a promotional video.

In the days leading up to the book’s release, Spears revealed in a separate Instagram post that she didn’t write her memoir to “offend” anyone.
“My book is not intended to offend anyone in any way,” she wrote in a note published last week. “That was me then… that’s the past!!!”
Spears noted that most of what she writes about in the book happened 20 years ago.
“I’ve moved on and it’s still a beautiful clean slate,” she wrote. “I’m here to set it up like that for the rest of my life!!! Anyway, it’s the last one and s— it’s happening!!”
The pop icon noted that she found “completion” in writing her book.
“I hope that I can enlighten people who in most cases feel especially alone or hurt or misunderstood,” the “Toxic” singer explained. “Again, my motive for this book was not to repeat my past experiences…”
