Spears took to Instagram on July 16 to upload a video of herself singing an acoustic rendition of the popular song, a dramatic departure from the original 1998 release. The video was recorded on her phone while she was doing laundry, according to the description of her post:
“This is me washing and sorting clothes yesterday… I haven’t said my voice in a long time… maybe too long… now I’m at home, playing another version of ‘Baby.’
Fans of the artist were delighted by the surprise video and took to Twitter to express their gratitude for the new, “remastered” version, with some even wondering when the song would be available on vinyl.
