Britney Spears looks back on a memory from New York.
On Saturday, the 42-year-old pop superstar posted a candid photo taken in 2002 of herself with sister Jamie Lynn Spears, now 32.
“Back!!! I can’t stop laughing,” Spears captioned a picture of her and Jamie Lynn, who she mentioned by name in the caption.
The photo was taken in September 2002 while the couple were backstage at New York’s Neil Simon Theater to meet the cast Hair sprayaccording to Getty Images, and shows Britney mid-conversation while her sister appears to be staring off into the distance.
Britney can be seen in the picture wearing a black turtleneck and low-waisted jeans, while Jamie Lynn wore an orange T-shirt, glasses and a hat.

Britney and Jamie Lynn previously publicly fell out in early 2022 over the release of Jamie Lynn’s memoir, Things I should have said: family, fame and invention. Since then, Britney has opened up about their relationship in her memoir, The woman in mepublished in October 2023.
Britney wrote in the book that while she was fighting her 13-year conservator status – which ended in November 2021 – she felt her sister was “writing a book capitalizing” on it.
“She will always be my sister and I love her and her beautiful family,” she wrote of Jamie Lynn at the time. “I’m working on feeling more compassion for her than anger, and for everyone I feel has wronged me. ”
During an episode of the British reality series I’m a celebrity…Get me out of here in November, Jamie Lynn answered a question about her and Britney’s current relationship status, explaining, “I love my sister.”
“Everything my sister did I always thought was the best,” she said, looking up to Britney growing up. “When it came to my sister, even if I felt anything, if anyone said anything, I was ready to leave. I said, ‘Don’t talk about my sister, she’s the best’.”

While Britney’s latest Instagram post marks the latest public interaction between the duo, it’s not the only time in recent months that they’ve shared moments together online.
In June 2023, Britney revealed on Instagram that she allegedly visited Jamie Lynn on set Zoey 102. “It was great visiting my sister on set last week!!! I missed you so much!!! Loyal girls stay at home but it’s so nice to visit family 😌!!!” she wrote the video on Instagram at the time.
Jamie Lynn then explained in an interview for Diversity a month later that he has “nothing but absolute love for every single member of my family.”
“If I’ve learned anything from last year, because I’ve been so open and I’ve felt like I have to defend myself sometimes, I don’t feel like there’s anything else I should say,” she said.
