Brooks Michael Schultz, 18, of Berlin, tragically passed away in a car accident on Friday, July 7, 2023. Born on December 17, 2004 in Oshkosh, he was the beloved son of Darrin and Melynda Eichstedt Schultz. Brooks graduated from high school in Berlin in 2023. Brooks was a bright light in the lives of all who knew him. His contagious smiles and genuine concern for others had the power to light up any room.
He was a devoted son, grandson, friend and brother to Brodie and Brynleigh. Brooks started working at the age of 15, starting with Crossroads Market, then Surface and Surroundings, and finally Kinas Excavating, where he wanted to become a heavy equipment operator. There was no doubt that he would achieve his goal.
At school, Brooks was actively involved in sports. In his free time he enjoyed waterfowl hunting, snowboarding and cruising the Fox River in his boat, wakeboarding with friends. However, his true passion was spending quality time with his girlfriend and best friend, Molly. In his short time with us, Brooks touched the lives of many and his absence will be felt every minute of every day.
He was a respected member of the Catholic parish of All Saints in Berlin. Brooks is survived by his loving parents, Darrin and Melynda Schultz; his siblings, Brodie and Brynleigh Schultz; his dear girlfriend and best friend, Molly Shearer; his maternal grandparents, Michael and Maureen Eichstedt; his paternal grandfather, Duane Schultz; his godparents, Chad and Jessica Martin; his aunts and uncles, Annette and Tim LaSure, Toni and Victor Petit, Monika and Tim Bori, Lance and Heather Schultz, Mike and Wendy Eichstedt, Matt and Tara Eichstedt and Marissa Eichstedt; several relatives and friends; and his two “furry brothers”, Burk and Briggs.
Brooks was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Barbara Schultz and his beloved “fur brother” Bo. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, July 18, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. in All Saints Catholic Parish, Father John Silva officiating.
The funeral will be held at the Catholic cemetery of St. Michael in Berlin. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Brooks Schultz Scholarship Fund for the Farmers and Merchants Bank Youth Apprenticeship Program in Berlin.
