She started learning to sing when she was very young. In 2022, she participated in the Telugu version of the singing TV show “Indian Idol” and became the winner. In 2014, she also participated in the seventh season of the singing TV reality show “Paduthu Theeyega”.

She attributes all the credit for becoming a singer to her sister BVK Vyshanvie, who took music lessons at home from master Balarka. She said in an interview,

My sister used to learn music from the master Balarka at home, and when I was four years old, I used to hum Swara. This interest convinced my mother to let me study with my sister. ”

She and her sister have been studying music for more than 10 years. Both sisters have diplomas in classical music and are studying Manodharma sangeetam. The musical duo are known as the ‘Vaiva sisters’ in Nellore. Vagdevi’s sister Vaishnavi also participated in Indian Idol. She was among the top 18 but was eliminated.

In an interview, when talking about how she balances singing and studying, she said that her teachers are very supportive of her singing and she also enjoys it. They wanted her to pursue her dream of becoming a singer. In the past, when she was late for class, her teacher would ask her to sing a song for her before allowing her to enter the classroom. She shared,

She became the winner of Telugu Indian Idol show on June 18, 2022. While on the show, she was interning at Signs Architects & Interiors. Once, during the show, she decided to impress singer Usha Uthup by singing the song “Aila Aila” but she failed to impress her. After winning the competition, it was announced that she would sing in Geetha Arts once she becomes a professional singer. She shared her thoughts on winning the show, saying:

I would like to thank the judges, mentors and everyone for their immense support and love during the 15-week journey of Telugu Indian Idol. My hard work over the past few months has finally paid off and I have achieved today’s results. Geetha Arts gave me a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and it was literally a dream come true for me. I am grateful to aha for providing this platform full of opportunities to participants like me. “

Wagdevi receives Telugu Indian Idol trophy from actor Chiranjeevi

She received a trophy and cash prize of Rs. 1000000. She didn’t keep any money, but gave it all to her parents. Talking about the incident she shared,

I handed over the prize money (Rs 10 Lakhs and an additional Rs 5 Lakhs from sponsors) to my parents. I just asked for Rs. I gave myself 100,000, but I only got 50,000 (laughs). But nothing was more exciting than spending my sister’s money. All kidding aside, my family knows what’s best for me and it’s my job to focus on the music. “
