California Teen Arrested for Allegedly Killing His Parents, Injuring Sister with ‘Multiple Weapons’

A 14-year-old boy has been arrested for allegedly killing his parents and seriously injuring his sister with “multiple weapons,” according to California police.

The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office revealed at a press conference Friday that the teenager, who has not been identified because he is a juvenile, was taken into custody and now faces two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.

Fresno County Sheriff John Zanoni said police received a 911 call around 7:40 p.m. Wednesday from a 14-year-old boy who claimed someone had broken into his home and attacked his parents and sister before fleeing the area in a pickup truck.

When police arrived at the scene, they found two deceased adults — later identified as Lue Yang and Se Vang, both 37 — along with an 11-year-old girl who had “life-threatening injuries,” according to Zanoni. He said the girl was immediately transported to Community Regional Medical Center where she underwent surgery.

Zanoni said that after the initial investigation, police began to find “inconsistencies” with what the 14-year-old claimed and what happened because of what was found at the crime scene and interviews with witnesses.

“The evidence showed that he made up the burglary story and was responsible for using multiple weapons to attack his mom, dad and sister,” Zanoni said.

Zanoni said another 7-year-old boy was also in the home at the time but was not injured. According to the police, it is a brother and sister of a 14-year-old girl and an 11-year-old girl, and he was given to the care of family members.

“The tragedy of the situation is of such great proportions because two children lost their mother and father due to the actions of another sibling,” Zanoni noted. “Those children will grow up without a mother and a father because of this incident.”

He noted that the police have not yet managed to discover the motives of the attack and that the investigation is ongoing. Zanoni said the investigation will include a review of the boy’s school history and family members to see if the boy has a “history of mental illness” or “violence.”

“Because it’s unusual. It is not something that is normal for someone to behave this aggressively and violently in this way just once or for this to be the first incident,” added Zanoni.
