Cameron Diaz and Husband Benji Madden Announce Birth of Son Cardinal: ‘We Are Blessed’

Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden have expanded their family!

The couple, who got married in January 2015, welcomed their second child together. Diaz, 51, and Madden, 45, announced the birth of son Cardinal in an Instagram post on Friday.

“We are blessed and excited to announce the birth of our son, Cardinal Madden❤️🙏He is amazing and we are all so happy he is here! For the safety and privacy of the children we will not be posting any pictures – but he is really cute ☺️We feel so blessed and gratefully 🍀Sending lots of love from our family to yours 🙏❤️Best wishes and have a good day!! 🤘⚡️,” the caption read.

The announcement included a drawing that read, “A birdie whispered to me.” Diaz and Madden are also parents to a daughter, Raddix, who was born on December 30, 2019.

The surprising revelation was met with support from family members like Benji’s brother Joel Madden, who commented, “❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️,” and Pete Wentz, who wrote, “✨✨✨.”

When Raddix was 2, Diaz told an episode of GOOP’s podcast that becoming a mother changed her “whole concept of aging.”

“It’s wide open. I’m excited. I’ve got 50 or 60 years left – I want to live to be 110, because I have a young child. I think you have that amazing moment in your 40s when you appreciate who your parents are and I want to have that moment with her — to be there with her in her 40s,” Diaz said.

Last October, the actress told Jimmy Fallon on his late-night talk show that Madden was “the best dad.”

“He’s like, Benj is at home, he’s the best dad ever and he’s running all his errands, and then he just goes upstairs and goes, ‘Yeah, okay, piro! Pfft,'” Diaz said of seeing Madden perform on stage.

The movie star said at her October 2023 appearance The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that Madden also likes to sing to their daughter.

“Yeah, he’s settling down — he has, honestly, I’m like, ‘Why don’t we just…you should do an album for kids,’ because he’s got the best songs,” the star says. “They play in my head all the time because he sings them to her and she knows the words. And it’s the sweetest thing ever. It really is. It’s so… it kills me.”
