Camila Alves McConaughey Posts Video with Mother-in-Law: ‘I Am Blessed to Have Her in My Life’

Camila Alves McConaughey reflects on her blessings this Thanksgiving, including having her mother-in-law — and Matthew McConaughey’s husband’s mother — Kay McConaughey in her life.

The model, 41, posted a video on Instagram on Friday, joined by Kay, 91. As the couple wished everyone a happy Thanksgiving “from our family to yours,” they talked about the importance of pausing to practice gratitude this time of year.

“In the midst of everything you’re doing today, whatever you’re doing, take a break and take a moment to really think about what you’re grateful for in your life and how you can help others,” Camila said, before asking Kay — or “MaMac,” how they call her affectionately – for which she is grateful.

For the elderly, it’s all about enjoying good health. “Well, no. 1, I am thankful that I did [my] sons and their wives and my grandchildren and my great-grandchildren and they are all healthy. That’s the most important thing – everyone is healthy, and I’m very healthy,” she said.

“And when you’re in good health, nine times out of 10 you’re happy,” she continued. “Well, put it all together. Happy and healthy, you can’t win.”

Camila — who has been married to actor Matthew McConaughey since 2012 — included a text caption over the video, sharing that she feels grateful for Kay. “MaMac’s thanks for Thanksgiving! She is 91 years old and I am blessed and grateful to have her in my life,” she wrote.

In the caption of the post, she invited her followers in English and Portuguese: “Let’s think about how we can practice GRATITUDE every day, not just on Thanksgiving.”

“I was taking her to her room and she got into this whole other thing that’s not my place to share, and she started crying. I’m like, ‘Oh my God, Mom Mac,’ I’m so sorry, and as I put her to bed, I look at her and I’m like, ‘Oh my God, she’s full of shit,'” Camila explained.

She said that’s when she decided to turn the tables and bring out her “spicy Brazilian Latin side” and “let her have it.” After that, Kaya’s attitude completely changed.
