Meizu
After leaving Nokia, Carl created a fan site for Chinese consumer electronics company Meizu. The website caught the attention of Meizu’s Hong Kong branch, which subsequently invited Mr. Pei to join Meizu’s marketing team in 2011.

In December 2013, Ieoh Ming Pei and his predecessor Pete Lau founded OnePlus in Shenzhen, Guangdong; Pei was only 24 years old at the time. The Chinese consumer electronics company launched its first product, OnePlus One, in April 2014. Although the company launched the phone with a sales target of only 50,000 units, the device sold nearly 1 million units in its first year, generating revenue of approximately $300 million. Following the OnePlus One, the OnePlus 2 and OnePlus 3 were launched in 2015 and 2016 respectively.

The company launched the OnePlus 2 through a virtual reality video on YouTube, which crossed 296,000 views in October 2020. In June 2017, the company launched OnePlus 5, one of its fastest-selling smartphones.

The video is a prank, featuring the creator opening a fake Nothing Phone 1 box. However, the box turned out to be empty, with a letter inside that read:
