Carla Wallace, wife of NASCAR driver Mike Wallace, has died after a four-year battle with ovarian cancer. Carla and Mike have been married for over forty years. Wallace shared the awful news on his Facebook. The couple had three children, and one of them even followed in his father’s footsteps. Mike Wallace comes from a racing car family. His two brothers, Rusty Wallace and Kenny Wallace, raced in NASCAR. Wallace drew public criticism for a social media post in 2020 and was banned indefinitely for breaching the conduct section rules. It was brought back in 2021, with its final Xfinity Series appearance coming in July 2020 for the Pennzoil 150 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, racing for JD Motorsports.

Mike Wallace’s wife, Carla Wallace, was his companion for 44 years. The couple married in their late teens and had three children: daughters Chrissy and Lindsey and son Matt. Mike posted the terrible news of his wife’s death on his Facebook page. The NASCAR driver rushed to Facebook to post a picture of Carla. In the letter, he said, “I am devastated for my beautiful wife, Carla, who passed away today at 5:44 after a four-year battle with ovarian cancer, and yes, cancer is bullshit.”

On January 21, Mike discovered that his wife was fighting for her life in the hospital. She was the first female driver to win at Hickory Motor Speedway. A year later, she made her debut in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, finishing tenth.
In 2009, Chrissy and Mike became the first father-daughter team to compete in the national series. They competed in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Mountain Dew 250. Chrissy last raced in 2011 and has kept a low profile since then. In a 2011 interview, Chrissy said her ambition was to get a ride in the Truck Series in 2012. Last year, in June, her uncle, Kenny Wallace, mentioned her briefly in a YouTube video. Kenny said Chrissy had to abandon her NASCAR goal because of a lack of sponsors. Lindsey Wallace Van Wingerden, Mike and Carla’s oldest daughter, followed a different professional path than her father. Lindsey is a Morgan Stanley project manager and event planner who graduated from UNC Charlotte. She is married to Thomas Van Wingerden and has three children. The couple welcomed their first child, Thomas Jr., in 2017, and their second child, daughter Ellie, in 2020. On January 15, Lindsey and Thomas welcomed Grayson Michael Van Wingerden, their newest family member, into the world. Lindsey, Mike, Carla and Thomas were attacked in 2016 after attending a Rascal Flatts performance. Mike was repeatedly punched and kicked, while Lindsey was allegedly kicked in the ribs. Three people were eventually detained and charged with the attack.

Matt Wallace, the youngest member of the family, wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps. Matt made his racing debut in 2015, at the age of 19. He raced in the Xfinity Series for JGL Racing, but never became a phenomenon. In an interview, Matt said that his father never encouraged him to race and was his most loyal supporter. Matt is on Instagram but has kept his account private. Matt is seen in his picture next to his wife, who appears to be pregnant.
