Carly Pearce, 34, Says She's Been Diagnosed with a Heart Condition: 'I've Got to Really Take This Seriously'

Carly Pearce has revealed that she has health issues involving her heart.

On May 30, the 34-year-old country singer posted a candid video on Instagram where she shared an update on her health and how it will affect her upcoming performances.

“I’ve always been transparent and honest in every part of my life so I feel this deserves the same honesty,” Pearce began. “You know I had some health problems and because of that I developed something called pericarditis, which is a heart problem.”

Pericarditis is swelling and irritation of the thin, sac-like tissue that surrounds the heart, according to the Mayo Clinic. It causes sharp pain in the chest, which can spread to the shoulders and neck.

Other symptoms include fatigue, cough, swelling of the legs or feet, low fever, shortness of breath and palpitations.

“I’ve been working with the doctors and talking to my cardiologist,” Pearce said. “I still want to be on the road, that’s very important to me, but we’ve all decided it’s in my best interest while I’m recovering to change my performances a bit.”

The “We Don’t Fight Anymore” singer then encouraged her followers to take care of their health.

“I am a young, healthy person who is very careful about what she eats and exercises, and this happened to me,” she said. “So I just want to use my platform to tell you to take care of your body and listen to it and just know that if it’s trying to tell you something, it’s going to tell you.”

In the comments section, Pearce received plenty of well-wishes from fans and other stars, including Tigirlily Gold, Hannah Ellis and Adam Doleac.
