Carol Burnett Gives Bartenders a Card with Her 'Exact Recipe' for a Cosmopolitan, Laura Dern Says (Exclusive)

Carol Burnett likes her drinks the way she likes them.

While attending a ceremony where Burnett, 91, had her hands and feet taped to the ground outside the famed TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood, California on Thursday, June 20, Laura Dern spoke exclusively to PEOPLE about the legendary star and her journey. line for drinks.

“She has an amazing ticket that she gives to the bartenders for ‘Carol Burnett cosmopolitan,'” Dern, 57, said.

“And it has her exact recipe,” the actress continued, while television and film producer Jayme Lemons added, “Carol gives it to all the bartenders. It has a little caricature of herself.”

According to Dern and Lemons, Burnett’s drink card inspired the actress and comedian to be honored with a ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theater.

The two created a similar card, only instead of Burnett’s drink order, there was a picture of the star standing in front of a famous Hollywood attraction.

“Jayme and I are together, one virtually, one in person, and we said, ‘We made this card because you’ve inspired us so much as producers and everything you’ve done, and we love the card you made for the bartender, so we wanted to give one of our new cards,’ Dern explained.

“She takes it and says, ‘Wait, what?’ And it was a card with her image on it,” the Big little lies star added. – And then we told her.

Lemons said Burnett was surprised by the honor – which ended up ending within two weeks – and “broke down in tears”.

At the weekday event, Burnett was joined by Dern and Lemons, as well as Dick Van Dyke, who appeared alongside the Hollywood legend at The Carol Burnett Show, which lasted 11 seasons from 1967 to 1978.

Bob Mackie, Allison Janney, Bill Hader, Jane Lynch, Lisa Ann Walter, Bob Odenkirk and Maya Rudolph also attended the ceremony.

Jimmy Kimmel also spoke during the ceremony. After the event, the talk show host, 56, shared on social media: “Thank you Carol Burnett for doing me the honor of honoring you at your much-deserved and long-awaited hand and foot print ceremony this morning in Hollywood.”
