Following news of Derek’s passing, the BBC has confirmed that his final footage will be aired in early 2024 so viewers won’t have to say goodbye for a while. The broadcaster also confirmed that the details of his exit story will be revealed in the near future.

Injured The Instagram account also confirmed his departure from the show, stating that Derek will continue filming for the series throughout the fall. Causing backlash from fans, many were quick to respond. “It’s horrifying, Charlie was a victim for many years. Derek has previously talked about how much he enjoys playing Charlie on the show.
