Cat Deeley apologises after making huge blunder on first day hosting This Morning

CAT Deeley was forced to apologize on the Today Show after co-host Ben Shephard pointed out the mistake to her.

The 47-year-old and Ben, 49, made their eagerly-anticipated debut as full-time This Morning hosts today – taking over from Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.

But while reading the phone number, Cat made an accident and missed the zero.

While Ben quickly corrected her, pointing out that the number started with 08000, not 0800, Cat bizarrely said she had the ChildLine number in her head.

“That’s where I get it from,” she said.

Cat hosted the American competition show So You Think You Can Dance for more than a decade.

But after 14 years across the pond with husband Patrick Kielty and their sons, they decided to return to the UK.

Earlier in the show, comedy duo Ant and Dec gave Ben a “word of advice” about Cat, who they worked with on the Saturday morning kids show SM:TV Live.

Last month The Sun revealed that Ben and Cat had been chosen for the coveted This Morning presenter role after a series of rotating presenters.

The new duo’s salary is thought to be around £550,000 each – £150,000 less than Holly and Phil.

Cat said: “We’re so excited to be here … This show has been a big part of our lives for so long, so to actually be standing here with you, it’s good.”

Opening today’s show, Ben said: “Hello, it’s Monday March 11th, welcome to a brand new week.”

Ben agreed, saying: “It’s very special, we’re delighted to be here.”

He also thanked those who sent them messages of support, including a cheeky message from Ant and Dec, as well as former football player Chris Kamara.
