Celebrity Big Brother in fix row as Kate Middleton’s uncle Gary Goldsmith is first star evicted amid huge format change

CELEBRITY Big Brother fans were left in limbo tonight as Kate Middleton’s uncle was sent home.

The first eviction of the series saw Gary Goldsmith and reality TV star Lauren Simon go head-to-head – but it was the businessman who was kicked out after just five days in the house

Fans of the series vote to save their favorite housemate – rather than eliminate them in the past, and furious fans think this played a part in the results.

Viewers were very confused by the new system, with one person writing: “Vote rather than evict. So confusing.”

Second person rage: “Was THAT A VOTE FOR SALVATION???? I VOTED FOR GARY??? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I HATE MY LIFE.”

While someone else added: “#cbb is a repair. We should be able to vote Sharon out.”

During his exit interview, Gary, 59, said: “This is the first television program I’ve ever done, my comfort zone is back in Slough, it took me a while to acclimatise.”

He said he “doubted himself” when he joined the ITV show and should have been “more authentic”.

“I could have been a lot more social,” he said.

Speaking about his many references to the royal family, he said: “People have asked me a lot of questions specifically about that because they didn’t know what to ask me. And I’ve often volunteered it.”

“First time on TV and I cried like a baby twice,” he said of his experience.

Former X Factor judge Sharon Osbourne nominated Gary for eviction as part of her “undercover mission” earlier this week.

Revealing her decision, she explained: “I think he’s embarrassed that he’s here alone. I mean, it’s really hard for him. He told me about some things that happened in his life today and it’s really hard for him, I think he’s brave .that I came in here.

“But somehow I don’t think this is the place for him. He’s just the odd one out of everyone here.

“It would be (like) if I went into his world and suddenly dropped in the middle of one of his board meetings, I’d probably feel the same way. So he’s just a little bit off.”

Gary was clearly upset by the decision, but admitted he was indeed uncomfortable.

Real Housewives of Cheshire star Lauren received the most nominations from her housemates after they had to choose two people each.

Lauren received six nominations which came from Heartstopper star Bradley Riches, Coronation Street actor Colson Smith, Goldsmith, American actress Marisha Wallace, Strictly Come Dancing star Nikita Kuzmin and TV presenter Zeza Millz.

After her nomination was announced, Lauren told Big Brother in the diary room: “Obviously I’m a bit tired, I’m very emotional.

“It was a bit of a shock, but I knew that obviously we all voted and someone had to go and I wasn’t egotistical enough to think that it wouldn’t be me, but it’s so nice. “

She added: “It’s true that I feel like there’s obviously more than two people who voted for me in that room and I’m struggling with not knowing who that is.

“I don’t like living with snakes. I am who I am. And I try to be the best I can be and get along with everyone. But I guess I’m Marmite – you love me or you hate me.”

The Celebrity Big Brother lineup

Who are the 13 stars appearing in the Celebrity Big Brother house? The Sun’s Jamie Downham takes a look…

Sharon Osbourne – the TV legend – who is a “house guest” on the megabucks deal – said she does the show “for a good time not for a long time”

Louis Walsh – Irish boy band manager who has never knowingly given up a fight and is not above pulling positions across the matrimonial bed

Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu – As we know from Love Island, Ek-ster is capable of some dramatics to make it to the finals

Levi Roots – Reggae Reggae Sauce is a little underwhelming, but its inventor seems quite mild. Will that change under pressure?

Fern Britton – ex This Morning star calls out Phillip Schofield – don’t think she won’t do the same to anyone who messes with her

Colson Smith – You’ll probably know him best as Corrie’s Craig Tinker – but prepare to discover he’s nothing like his character

David Potts – the breakout star of Ibiza Weekender – has left the show behind – and apparently his trousers

Gary Goldsmith – Kate Middleton’s uncle is a big signing for ITV but has proved divisive among viewers

Marisha Wallace – It’s not CBB without the role of ‘American who doesn’t know what she’s gotten herself into’ and she’s doing great

Nikita Kuzmin – The Strictly pro comes to the show only after the tour of the show. Poor boy probably just wants a break

Zeze Mills – the social media star has a “no-holds-barred interview style” – and she hasn’t stopped calling people out (well, Louisa)

Bradley Riches – The actor played affable James McEwan in the Netflix hit Heartstopper and seems just as cute at home

Lauren Simon – She’s the star of The Real Housewives of Cheshire and you really can’t get on that show if you’re shy and retired
