A man is suspected of killing three women and injuring a man before killing himself during a carjacking in central Illinois Thursday night, police said. The shooting happened at a rural home in Ashland about 10 miles west of Springfield after police responded to a call of a man shot in the chest, according to a police report. The report says officers arrived to find a man shot to death and a woman dead inside the home. According to the report, the man who was killed told police about the attack earlier that day at another home in Ashland. Two women were found dead in that house.

The surviving man was taken to a hospital with critical injuries, according to a news release from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
