Chandan Prabhakar is an Indian comedian, actor, producer and screenwriter, best known for his role as Chandu Chaiwala in the Sony TV comedy show The Kapil Sharma Show Chaiwala).

In 2012, he made his Punjabi debut in the film Power Cut, playing the role of lineman Khamba Ram. Later, Chandan appeared in Punjabi films such as Control Bhaji Control (2014), Disco Singh as Detective Pradyuman Sharma (2014) and Judge Singh LLB as Lawyer Vijay Soni (2015).

Chandan Prabhakar produced and directed the Punjabi show Laughter Da Master, which aired on ETC Punjabi channel. Chandan is also the producer and screenwriter of the Punjabi film “Judge Singh LLB”. In an interview, he talked about working in Punjabi films and said:
Since I prefer the Punjabi film industry, I have been producing and directing films in the state. Screenwriting is nothing new to me. Earlier, when I came to Mumbai for the Laughter Challenge, we wrote our own script because we didn’t have a scriptwriter at that time. Now I am the content director of my own Punjabi film,”

Walking out of The Kapil Sharma Show
In 2017, Chandan traveled to Australia for a comedy show with members of The Kapil Sharma Show. Before the show, Chandan had some arguments with Kapil Sharma and subsequently he did not perform on the show. On his return from Australia, Kapil, who was reportedly in a drunken state, insulted Chandan Prabhakar and got into an ugly fight with Sunil Grover. When Sunil Grover tried to resolve the issues between them, Kapil verbally and physically attacked Sunil. Due to the incident, Chandan left the show. In an interview, when asked about his dispute with Chandan, Kapil said:
I want to meet him and apologize. My mistake was, he was my friend and I didn’t even hear what he had to say and just insulted him. I finally got to meet him on the day we were to fly back to India, I met him an hour before check-in. I became even more angry. I scolded him five more times, and he returned it to me.
Three months later, Chandan resumed shooting for The Kapil Sharma Show and in an interview, when asked about the reason for rejoining the show, he said:
See that every action has an equal and opposite reaction. We are like a family; I have spent half my life with Kapil. If I take it as a big issue and say Mujhe zindagi mein tere saath kaam nahi karna then that is not right. It’s okay if I reacted at the time, but I can’t stay like this for the rest of my life. In a family, two brothers will quarrel, but that doesn’t mean they leave each other forever. ”

They have collaborated on comedy shows such as The Great Indian Laughter Challenge, Comedy Nights with Kapil and The Kapil Sharma Show. Indian actor and stand-up comedian Rajiv Thakur recalled his memories with Chandan and Kapil in an interview and said:
We come from the same city and the same school. Kapil and I were in class 9A and Chandan was in class 9B. Then we were in the same college together, did plays together and later even participated in the India Laughter Challenge. So we’ve always been part of a group,”
