Chase Stokes Says Starring in Girlfriend Kelsea Ballerini’s ‘First Rodeo’ Video Was a ‘No Brainer’

Chase Stokes says he’s “out of the blue” when it comes to supporting his girlfriend Kelsey Ballerina.

Speaking with Party tonight at the Giorgio Armani Spring/Summer 2025 show in New York on Thursday, October 17, Rugobes actor, 32, said he hadn’t considered starring in the country singer’s latest music video.

Stokes tells the outlet that “little snippets” of him can be seen in the 31-year-old’s “First Rodeo” music video, which she premiered on Wednesday, Oct. 16, ahead of the upcoming release of her new album, Forms — will be released on October 25.

“It was a really, really beautiful, vulnerable way of saying, ‘I wrote this song kind of about our story, and I don’t want anyone else to do it. Will you too?’ “, he recalled talking to Ballerini about the role.

“And she said, ‘Oh! Was it that easy?’ And I said, ‘Yes, honey. Yes, right.’ So it was a no-brainer,” Stokes said, adding that it “was such a beautiful video.”

The couple first sparked dating rumors in January 2023 before making their red carpet debut together at the CMT Awards in April of that year.

During his conversation with ETStokes also cleared up a misconception about the deal the pair had about Ballerini not watching his drama series Foreign banks.

“He can watch whatever he wants,” the actor told the reporter. “It’s just more consistent that if she wants to watch it, she can. If she doesn’t want to watch it, she won’t hurt me.”

He continued, “I don’t want, ‘Watch my show! You must watch my work!’ It’s less about boundaries and more about what you’re most comfortable doing.”

Ballerini has said on several occasions that she is not as busy as some would think when it comes to her boyfriend’s hit series.

In the episode of February 22 Call her dad podcast, the “Love Me Like You Mean It” singer opened up to host Alex Cooper about how they met thanks to her getting into his DMs.

“I’ve never seen his performance, but I just knew about him and got involved right away,” said the singer. When Cooper, 30, asked Ballerina what she told the star, she admitted she kept things pretty simple: “His name is ‘@hichasestokes’ and I said, ‘Hi, Chase Stokes.’ ”
