Chayan Dutta is a Scientist/Engineer at the UR Rao Satellite Center of the Department of Space. He is also serving as Deputy Director of the Project “Chandrayaan-3 Lander Airborne Command Telemetry, Data Processing and Storage System”. This subsystem is the central control center for all spacecraft operations and serves as the primary intelligent system that manages the orbiter’s functions. On July 14, 2023, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) launched India’s third lunar exploration mission, Chandrayaan-3. The spacecraft was launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota using a Mark-III launch vehicle. After being appointed as the head of launch operations of Chandrayaan-3, Dutta expressed his enthusiasm and said:
I am deeply honored and humbled to be entrusted with this important task. This mission is an important milestone for our country and the global scientific community. “
