Cher’s driver’s license is registered exactly as fans would imagine it to be.
During the performance at Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday, January 7, the multi-hyphenate brainstormed ideas for the second half of her memoir with Jimmy Kimmel. Cher: Memoirs, Part One was published in November and became a The New York Times bestseller of.
The first question Kimmel (57) asked Cher (78) was about the last time she drove a car. Cher admitted that it had been a while, but alluded to the fact that she recently bought a car. Kimmel then asked Cher if she had a driver’s license and if it had her last name on it.
“I don’t have a last name,” he said Infatuated with the moon the actress said, confirming that her license only says “Cher.” “I had to go to court, they give you special relief or whatever you call it. You have to prove that someone can know you, like the public can know you by that name. It’s not easy.”

Kimmel joked that she would be set up if Cher just showed up. He also asked Cher if she had ever been on the jury, and the “Believe” singer said that “they won’t take me.”
After Kimmel asked if it was because she was “too famous,” Cher said she was “too distracting.” She also mentioned going to court to prepare for her role as a lawyer, but when she showed up, “The judge threw me out after 10 minutes,” she added, because he was afraid of disrupting the trial.

Although Cher does not mention her driver’s license in her memoirs, she remembers finding out how her name was written on her birth certificate.
“I believed Cherilyn was my name until the day years later when I decided to legally change my name to simply Cher,” she wrote.
However, Cher was shocked to learn that her birth certificate says “Cheryl”. Cher’s mom, Georgia Holt, had a long labor and there was confusion when Holt told the nurse the name she intended for her daughter.
When Cher confronted her mom, she “just shrugged,” Cher wrote. “I was just a teenager and I was suffering a lot. Give me a break,” Holt said, according to the memoir.
