The former X Factor judge received the support of her loved ones after the devastating news.

This includes her former Girls Aloud bandmates and best friends Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts, who reposted their tribute to Liam on Instagram, along with heartbroken emojis.

A source told The Sun: “Mum is with her a lot, especially now that she’s there. There were people visiting, flowers were delivered. But [Cheryl] he didn’t come out [of her home].”

She is said to have last seen Liam in early September, when he visited their seven-year-old son Bear, and the former 1D star was described as “happy and healthy” during their last meeting.

It comes as…

A source told The Sun: “He looked very happy and at peace here, though [Liam and Cheryl] they weren’t together, they looked like they were doing great in co-parenting and doing what was best for the child.

“He was very involved. Sometimes it ends with the school run. He seemed really sweet and caring with his son.”

Speaking on Youtuber Logan Paul’s podcast in 2022, Liam – reportedly worth around £46m – opened up about co-parenting a child with ex Cheryl.

The One Direction star said: “My life is his now, my money is his.

“I actually have a couple of companies running and I know he can run them one day if he wants to or [he can sell them].”

Liam then told Logan he was a “lovely boy” and described being a dad as “the coolest thing”.

He also fondly described Cheryl as “the best mum in the world” and thanked her for giving him “full autonomy” to pursue his career while looking after Bear.

Cheryl broke her silence on Instagram last night, two days after news of Liam’s death broke on Wednesday afternoon.

She posted on Instagram: “As I try to get over this devastating event and process my own grief at this incredibly painful time, I would like to remind everyone that we have lost a human being.

“Liam wasn’t just a pop star and celebrity, he was a son, brother, uncle, dear friend and father to our 7-year-old son.

“A son who now has to face the reality that he will never see his father again.”

In the romance of Liam Payne and Cheryl

By Joanna Kavanagh, Showbiz Reporter

It was a romance that caused a media storm.

One Direction man Liam Payne was just 14 when he met former X Factor judge Cheryl during the show in 2008.

But it wasn’t until 2016 – when the Girls Aloud singer was divorcing her second husband – that the couple got together despite their ten-year age difference.

The couple made their relationship official in May of that year when they appeared at Eva Longoria’s Global Gift Gala in Paris.

In 2017, Liam paid a sweet tribute to his girlfriend by tattooing her eye on his arm.

Cheryl was pregnant at the time and gave birth to a baby boy on March 22, 2017.

She posted a picture of Liam cradling their 7lb 9oz baby on Instagram and wrote: “On Wednesday Liam and I became parents to an incredibly beautiful, healthy baby boy who looks like a dream.”

A friend told The Sun: “Liam didn’t leave Cheryl during the birth and, like her, is smitten with their new son and can’t wait to take him home.

“It’s the perfect Mother’s Day for Cheryl.”

The Sun revealed in May 2017 that the couple had named their son Bear.

They decided on an unusual name after a week of getting to know each other.

In February 2018, The Sun broke the news that Liam’s constant traveling to promote his solo career had put a strain on the relationship and that the couple were set to part ways.

That same month, Cheryl said “none of it matters” as she brushed off questions about her crumbling romance with Liam during an interview with BBC Breakfast.

They then appeared together at the Brit Awards where they were all smiles on the red carpet, with Cheryl joking about the couple’s ‘safe word’.

However, in July 2018, Cheryl and Liam decided to divorce.

A friend told The Sun: “Cheryl and Liam have worked really hard on their relationship – they had problems earlier this year and they’ve worked through them.

“But they are at different stages in their lives and, after much careful consideration, have come to the decision that it is best for everyone to go their separate ways.”

Liam and Cheryl released a statement confirming their split, which read: “We are saddened to announce that we are separating. It was a difficult decision for us to make.

“We still have so much love for each other as a family. Bear is our world and we ask that you respect his privacy as we go through this together.”

A NEW BEGINNING

Liam was reportedly “keen to make a fresh start” with Cheryl before his death.

The dad’s relationship with his son has recently been put in the spotlight, and it is believed that he wanted to “prove” that life is in store for his first-born.

A source previously shared how Little Things hitmaker Liam was revamping things for his son and told OK! Magazine: “We don’t see much of Bear on Liam’s social media, but I think he wants to prove to Cheryl that he’s getting his life together.”

It comes as the Sun reported last night how Liam went to rehab just weeks ago to get clean – but heartbreakingly quit after two days.

He checked into The Priory at the end of July to try to beat his drug and drink demons.

But he went 48 hours into his 28-day addiction treatment program — devastating immediate family and friends.

Champagne, prescription drugs, white powder and foil wrappers were found in Liam’s ruined room at the CasaSur Hotel in the Palermo area of the Argentine capital after he fell from a balcony at around 5pm (9pm UK time).

Fellow hotel guests revealed the star had been behaving in a “disturbing” manner shortly before the fall, with Liam admitting to one woman: “I was in a boy band – that’s why I’m such a f**k.”

Last year, Liam revealed that he had spent 100 days in a wellness clinic.

He opened up about his rehab and said, “I really just needed to take some time for myself, because I kind of became someone I didn’t really recognize anymore.”

He then praised Cheryl and his son and said: “Honestly, more than anything I want to say thank you to Bear and his mum for giving me some freedom to go and get better.

“There’s no point in trying to be a dad when you have nothing to learn.

“I feel like I’m in control of life now.

“After I came back, that process worked for me, but there were still some little things I had to deal with on my own.”

“My heart breaks for Karen, Geoff, Nicole and Ruth, his son Bear and all those around the world who knew and loved him, as I do.”

Niall Horan wrote: “I am absolutely devastated by the death of my amazing friend Liam. It just doesn’t feel real.

“Liam had an energy for life and a passion for his work that was infectious. He was the smartest person in any room and always made everyone feel happy and safe.

“All the laughter we’ve had over the years, sometimes about the simplest things, keeps coming to mind through sadness.

“We got to live our wildest dreams together and I will forever cherish every moment we had. The bond and friendship we had doesn’t happen often in life.

“I feel so lucky to have seen him recently. Unfortunately I didn’t know I was saying goodbye forever after I said goodbye and hugged him that night. It’s heartbreaking.

“My love and condolences go out to Geoff, Karen, Ruth, Nicola and of course his son Bear.”
