In 2002, he went clubbing alone while his friends were busy, where he met a girl named Lavinia. Chetan spoke about meeting her for the first time in an interview, saying,
At the club I met an old friend of mine. Lavinia is with the friend. I talked to them, and I talked to Lavinia, and we got along like a house on fire. After a while, a girl came up to me and said hello. Suddenly, Lavinia asked me to go hang out with her. Her reaction surprised me a little. But somehow this was the first sign that she actually liked me. “

I played a lot of cricket back then and Sunday was no exception. After the game I was so tired that I went home. Suddenly I got a call from her and realized how easily I had forgotten my dinner plans. I apologized and we went on our first date. “

Chetan started her career as a child model when she was just 5 years old. He has appeared in over 200 TV commercials and print ads including Nycil, Tata Safari, Thumbs Up, Cinthol, Lakme and Maruti Wagon R. In 1994, he entered the Gladrags Manhunt and Megamodel Contest but failed to make it among the top finalists. In 2001, he participated in the competition again and won third place. He appeared in the Hindi music video “Deewane To Deewane Hain” (1997) sung by Shweta Shetty.

He made his debut as a child actor in the epic Hindi television series “Mahabharat” (1988), in which he played the role of young Balram. In an interview, while talking about playing the role of young Balram, he said:
I was 14 when I played Balram in Mahabharata and it was amazing. All of us have received a lot of feedback and information in the past through fan mail. When I was in school, I would receive sacks full of letters every day. At the time, there was a photo signing system with fan mail. So fans would send me an empty envelope with a self-addressed stamp and had to sign the photo and send it back with the letter. This is my daily life. In fact, every time I get an invitation from a bad guy, I get really excited. Producers have occasionally offered me positive roles, but I haven’t been kicked out of them. In January 2019, he started working as a lead developer at Xtrathin Design Private Limited, a private company in Mumbai, and worked there for nearly a year. He had an affair with Indian producer Ekta Kapoor when he was rehired to play the role of Haider Khan in the Hindi television series “Jodha Akbar” (2013-2015) had a dispute. He was rehired and promised 20 days of filming per month, but as the series’ story progressed, his role in the series began to diminish. In an interview, he said of the incident:
