Chilling CCTV shows Ford Fiesta driven by teens just moments before they plunged into ditch in horror North Wales crash

HORRIFYING CCTV images show a Ford Fiesta being driven by a tragic group of teenagers – moments before they were to die in a horrific crash in Snowdonia.

Harvey Owen, 17, Jevon Hirst, 16, Wilf Fitchett, 17, and Hugo Morris, 18, can be seen driving through Harlech, North Wales at around 11.30am on Sunday, on their way to the mountains.

Just minutes later the teenagers were killed when their silver hatchback veered off a wet and windy country road in the village of Garreg – just eight miles away.

The final images, captured by a local business’ camera, were taken before the “happy and smiling” lads were seen buying pasta and charcoal from Premier Foods for their camping expedition.

Shop owner Lucy Jones, 25, told The Sun: “They were happy, laughing and joking.

“They were arguing, saying ‘I can’t afford this, I can’t afford that.’ But everyone seemed to be in very good spirits.

“They were not dressed for walking – they were wearing jeans, a T-shirt, tennis shoes.

“You wouldn’t think they’d be walking up a mountain if you saw them.”

Police fear the horrific accident happened shortly after the boys left one of their grandfather’s homes on Saturday night.

The boys last made contact around noon on Sunday before their phones stopped receiving and sending messages.

It is feared that their overturned motorbike sat unnoticed in the water ditch for almost two days while the drivers drove away unaware.

It wasn’t until 3.10pm on Monday – more than 24 hours later – that police were told the boys were missing.

They were finally spotted around 10 a.m. on Tuesday by scavengers who spotted the wreckage from their raised cabin.

Officers confirmed that four bodies were found in a car, which was partially submerged in water and on its roof in the Porthmadog area.

Yesterday, a farmer who lives nearby described the scene. Rhys Williams said: “They were unlucky with the way the car went in.

“It went into a ditch, low into a ditch. It’s a small car. If they had hit a tree or a fence, they would have gone the other way.”

Rhys said the accident happened on a “sharp bend” where the road narrows, adding: “There was a lot of leaves on that corner. There have been one or two accidents there before.”

On Thursday, some of the boy’s family traveled from their hometown of Shrewsbury to hold a vigil at the crash site.

All the boys attended a school in Shropshire which was already mourning the loss of two more pupils.

Alfie McCormick, 18, and Ben Worrall, 17, died within days of each other just weeks ago and the local priest said the school community was still grieving.

The Reverend Charlotte Gompertz, vicar of the church in Shrewsbury, said: “It’s a huge sixth form college where all the people here go round.

“They’ve had some tragedies in the last few months and this will be devastating for them.

“There have been two deaths recently, a motorcycle accident and a suicide.”
