Chirag Paswan is an Indian actor-turned-politician. He belongs to the Lok Sabha Janata Party (LJP). He is the son of the late Bihar politician Ram Vilas Paswan.

Chirag Paswan was born on October 31, 1983 (40 years old as of 2023). He graduated from the College of Engineering and Technology, Bundelkhand University, Janshi with a B.Tech (Computer Science) degree. He has been interested in acting since childhood. He used to participate in many plays in schools and colleges. Chirag is a permanent resident of Mantri Ji Tola, Post-Saharbanni, Alauli, Khagaria, Bihar.

Chirag made his debut in Bollywood with the film Miley Naa Miley Hum in 2011, but when the film did not do well at the box office, he decided to join politics.

After the failure of his debut novel, he decided to enter politics. He said in an interview that his father’s illness prompted him to enter politics. He also said that politics is his comfort zone and not Bollywood. Chirag made his first foray into politics when he contested the Jamui Lok Sabha seat in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and won by more than 85,000 votes; defeating Janata Party candidate Sultansur Shekhar Bhaskar.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he won the Jamui (SC reserved) seat for the second time by defeating Bhudeb Choudhary of the Lok Sabha Party (RLSP) by 2,41,049 votes. On November 5, 2019, Chirag Paswan was unanimously elected as the new national president of the Lok Janshakti Party. He contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Hajipur seat in Bihar and won by 1.70 lakh votes. On August 26, 2024, he was reappointed Chairman of the Liberal Party (RV); his term will last until 2029.
