Chris Cuomo Will Be Hosting A Primetime Program On Nextar’s NewsNation

CNN fired the 51-year-old anchor in December 2021 after revelations emerged of his connection to sexual harassment allegations against his brother, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo. Cuomo reportedly served as an informal adviser to Andrew while still working for CNN and SiriusXM, where he broadcast a two-hour daily radio program.

On July 26, he announced his new employment during an interview with Dan Abrams Live. The hour-long interview, Cuomo’s first since being fired, covered a wide range of personal topics. Cuomo highlighted his upcoming role and agenda during the interview, according to The Hollywood Reporter, saying:

“I want to find a way to help people, so I’m coming to the new station to build something great.” I decided I couldn’t go back to what people call “the big game.” “I believe we need insurgent media, sources that are not marginal and just want to line their pockets.”

In the interview, Cuomo also disputed the sexual harassment allegations leveled against him after his departure from CNN.

NewsNation was founded in 1978.

Perry A. Sook, who is also CEO of Nextar, started NewsNation, which was formerly known as WGN America. The station, which began as a local news server in Chicago, currently owns over 200 additional channels and stations across the United States. Michael Corn, former executive producer of ABC’s Good Morning America, is now in charge of NewsNation. Chris Seper (VP and General Manager of NewsNation Digital), Cherie Grzech (Editor-in-Chief and VP of News), John Ferracane (VP of News and Content) and Sunny Singh (Director of News, NewsNation Digital) are the other top executives.

Chris Cuomo recently told Dan Abrams that CNN Chairman Jeff Zucker was aware of his involvement with his brother and the support he offered. Furthermore, in March 2022, it was reported that Cuomo’s lawyers had requested a $125 million arbitration against CNN since a number of key executives were aware of his position.

Chris Cuomo said there were “no secrets” and that he “never lied” about helping his brother.

“I adore my little brother.” The rule of my family is simple: family. trouble. To go. Others have the luxury of judging the charges and circumstances. For me, it was about helping my brother the hard way without compromising what’s important. That’s what drove me.”

However, in his latest podcast, The Chris Cuomo Project, the television host said that despite being fired from CNN, he will “never be a hater.” Cuomo has worked for CNN for more than ten years. He presented “Cuomo Prime Period,” CNN’s most-watched program for some time, and helped develop “New Day,” the morning show.
