Chris Pine does not know if he will return to Genovia with Anne Hathaway.
Days after it was confirmed The Princess Diaries 3 is underway, the actor, 44, was asked if he would appear in the third installment of the franchise in the Tuesday, October 8 edition. Today with Hoda and Jenna.
“I know nothing,” Pine — whose character, Nicholas Devereaux, confessed his love to Hathaway’s Mia Thermopolis in late 2004. The Princess Diaries 2: The Royal Engagement — said hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager.
“You don’t know anything? You have a major role in it,” 42-year-old Bush Hager replied.

Kotb, 60, quickly agreed, telling Pine, “You did The Princess Diaries.”

After the co-hosts added that the movie couldn’t be made without Pine, he told them, “That’s very sweet. Call Disney. Call [Disney CEO] Bob Iger” and said he knew nothing about the new project when asked if he would be a part of it.
“The answer is that I honestly don’t know anything about it. I think it’s fantastic,” Pine said.
This year marks the 20th anniversary The Princess Diaries 2: The Royal Engagement, which premiered three years after the first film in the franchise, The Princess Diaries, appeared in cinemas in 2001.
The third part is directed by Adele Lim, who said yes Diversity that she is “an avid fan of the original The Princess Diaries.”

“I am extremely excited to be a part of reviving the third edition of this beloved franchise. We look forward to celebrating its main tenants of female power, joy and mentorship with audiences around the world,” said Lim.
Hathaway reacted to Lim’s joining the project by sharing Diversityarticle in an Instagram post alongside a clip from the first film.

Last year, Hathaway addressed fan anticipation for the highly anticipated third installment by telling PEOPLE that it’s “exciting” to “see the level of excitement about it.”
‘We feel exactly the same and I know it’s probably very frustrating. It’s a process that requires patience and that’s why everyone should consider themselves part of the film business now, because this is how long it actually takes to make things,” she said.
