Chrissy Teigen celebrated her birthday, and she’s sharing the details with fans.
On Friday, the cookbook author let fans know how she celebrated her 38th birthday via an Instagram post. The celebration included spending time with her children, enjoying lunch with loved ones and undergoing ketamine therapy, during which she said she experienced a visual representation of her late son Jack.
“I had a very nice birthday 🥹”, she wrote. “Went to see my friends @flamingo_estate, had a wonderful lunch with friends, then went through ketamine therapy and saw space and time and baby Jack and some weird penguins and cried and cried and cried.”
“Then I lay with my babies, then the hot pot, and then I hung out with my best friend 💗”, she added.
Ketamine therapy involves the use of low doses of a “dissociative anesthetic drug to manage a variety of mental health conditions,” according to the Pacific Neuroscience Institute. Meanwhile, Columbia University Irving Medical Center notes that ketamine has been found to have “rapid-acting antidepressant and antianxiety effects,” is often used as a treatment for depression, and is usually given by IV infusion or intranasal spray. As the US Drug Enforcement Administration notes, ketamine “has some hallucinogenic effects,” including distorted “perception of sight and sound.”

In 2020, Teigen and John Legend tragically lost their third child, son Jack, to a partial placental abruption. The model opened up about her experience in 2022, revealing during Propper Daley’s “A Day of Unreasonable Conversation” summit that she then underwent a life-saving abortion.
Teigen explained at the event, per party tonight that “she had to make a lot of difficult and heartbreaking decisions. Somewhere along the way it became very clear that he wasn’t going to survive and neither was I going to survive without some kind of medical intervention.”
“Let’s call it what it was: It was a miscarriage,” she added during the 2022 event. “Abortion to save my life for a baby that had absolutely no chance. And to be honest, I never, ever put it together until, actually , few months ago.”
Along with her emotional caption on Friday, the model also shared several photos documenting her birthday.
Among them were photos of her in a floral dress smiling next to Legend (who wore a pink suit), a picture of the couple enjoying lunch with friends and several shots of her little ones snuggling with her.
Teigen and Legend, 44, have four children: Luna, 7, Miles, 5, Esti, 10 months, and Wren, 5 months. Underneath his post, Legend celebrated his wife, writing, “Perfect day. We love you mom.”
Katy Perry applauded her in the comments section, writing: “I love your journey so much ♥️.”

The legend toasted Teigen’s special day in his own post this week, sharing pictures of the pair holding each other on a boat and posing with the kids.
“Happy birthday to my lover, best friend and partner in everything! I’m so grateful you were born,” he wrote on Instagram.
“So happy we found each other 17 years ago. So in love with you and the big, beautiful family we’ve built together,” Legend added. “Let’s grow old and celebrate many more birthdays together. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️”

The couple celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary back in September 2013 with the whole family by their side. Their 10-year anniversary celebration was held on Lake Como in Italy, and Legend described the experience to PEOPLE as a “magical time.”
“I think the biggest difference between our wedding and our anniversary celebration was the fact that we now have four children, so to be able to celebrate it with them there was pretty amazing,” he said.
“We got pretty emotional when we saw them there,” Legend added.
