Chrissy Teigen Talks ‘Complete Mom Desire to Create a Better World for All Children’: ‘Very Special’ (Exclusive)

Chrissy Teigen’s journey as a mother has highlighted the importance of giving back.

Speaking with PEOPLE to celebrate the launch of the Wonderfold W2 and W4 Petal Pop Stroller Wagon, which Teigen specially designed to fit up to four children and feature a custom floral print, Teigen talks about why the partnership — the proceeds of which will go back to Baby2Baby , a national nonprofit organization that provides basic necessities to children living in poverty — is so close to her heart as a mom of four.

“I’ve been a supporter of Baby2Baby for a long time. I think when I became a mother for the first time, I started to understand more deeply that I wanted to really use my platform to be able to uplift and provide a supportive environment for children to be able to thrive from birth,” she tells PEOPLE.

“And what I love about Baby2Baby is that that support is not just for the kids but for the parents,” says Teigen, who shares sons Wren, 10 weeks, and Miles, 4, as well as daughter Esta, 7 months. , and Luna, 7, with husband John Legend. “And we always tried to support with donations.”

“We get so much stuff and it just drives me crazy, so our first engagement was to make simple donations every week. We would fill a big tub with things for Baby2Baby and send them. And then I had to explore the warehouse and see the magnitude of what I could give, not only children, but also mothers and entire families.”

Teigen drew on her experience as a mother when coming up with her thoughtful design for the station wagon.

“If you saw Architectural Digest, John and I are actually a pretty neutral palette when it comes to us as a couple. So our Petal Pop stroller was really important to me,” she says. “With Luna, I started thinking, ‘Oh no, I’m never going to have brightly colored toys.’ I wanted everything to fit in the house and make it look so beautiful and peaceful.”

“As we started to grow and have more children, I realized the importance of color in their lives and the importance for them to wear color and how it makes them feel fun and special,” she continues.

“The idea of seeing things in color was really important to me because, with my first pregnancy with Luna, I didn’t necessarily see things in color,” she says, recalling her heartbreaking battle with postpartum depression after her now 7-year-old was born.

“It wasn’t until I got over that hump and really started appreciating the colors that it really changed my mood. So I wanted something bright and pretty and fun for them. That’s why cars embody all the things I think kids need to see, and really all of us . Having color in your world is really important.”

“Being able to see the reality of what they do is really important and very special to me. Being one of their angels is honestly a partnership with a group of people who are wonderful to be around and who really care about what they do,” Teigen shares. It’s important to use my platform to help them because I have a total motherly desire to create a better world for all children.”

With so many opportunities for families to help families at the end of the year, Teigen looks forward to “[getting] to all the beautiful events that Baby2Baby organizes.”

“And to take Luna and Miles to the warehouse to see everything first hand and understand where their donations are going and enjoy a wonderful event where we meet so many different families, which is really special,” he adds.

“I think we’re just blessed with health and blessed with the time we can give because you have that help I want to do everything we can for organizations like Baby2Baby to make sure every child gets that jump start in life.”

Now that they’re back to their school year routine, Teigen also feels “blessed” that her husband’s schedule is Vote it allows a lot of time for family.

“He has nice hours on set in Los Angeles, and I work from home. And as the babies get more independent — where they can sit in their seat, we call Esti her little office and they play with all the things around them — and you get a little bit of freedom.”

“I’m really looking forward to what Wren will become. Esti is now 7 months old and Wren is 2 years old [months] and to see the difference between them is crazy. But I think it will be great as things get going with the kids and we get more comfortable in the house.”
