Christian Brueckner’s lawyer brags he’ll get Madeleine McCann suspect OFF rape charges & brands trial ‘witch-hunt’

MADELEINE McCann, the lawyer of the main suspect Christian Brueckner, yesterday promised to acquit him of a series of rape charges.

Friedrich Fülscher brazenly said he was confident he could defend himself against the charges – including the stabbing of an Irish representative on holiday in 2004.

He brazenly claimed the allegations were part of a witch hunt against Brueckner, 47 – also suspected of abducting three-year-old Madeleine 17 years ago.

Dr Fülscher revealed that he had brought in a powerful and expensive defense team, insisting: “I am convinced that an acquittal can only come at the end of the trial.”

German drifter Brueckner was identified four years ago as the prime suspect in the 2007 abduction of Madeleine from the family’s holiday apartment in Portugal.

He is serving a seven-year sentence in prison for rape.

Brueckner was pictured arriving at a court in Braunschweig today to face charges that he raped three women and sexually assaulted children twice in Portugal.

He looked downcast wearing a dark green hooded jacket and striped shirt as he arrived in a van with barred windows.

It is the first time he has been photographed since 2020, when he limped out of hospital in shackles after being assaulted in prison.

The conviction will keep him behind bars – as fears grow he may never be charged in Madeleine’s disappearance.

But Dr. Fülscher said the top legal team he has put in place must fight against prejudice in the media.

And he warned the witnesses: “They will have to be prepared for unpleasant questions.”

It comes after Brueckner called his trial “ridiculous.”

The German drifter also mocked the cops mercilessly, saying: “I hope (they) find some answers to (their) questions soon.”

Brueckner was moved from Oldenburg prison in northern Germany to Schnedebruch near Hanover, MailOnline writes.

He said: “My situation hasn’t changed at all. I just moved prison. I’m still completely isolated. Since (sic) more than two years.

“I am still not allowed to talk to anyone except my lawyers and my punishers (guards).”

CHRISTIAN B ALLEGATIONS

Prosecutors allege that Brueckner raped three women and sexually assaulted children twice in Portugal.

His alleged victims include Irish mum Hazel Behan, who says he raped her when she was 20 and working as a holiday sales representative in Portugal.

He is also accused of raping and abusing a teenage girl and a 70- to 80-year-old woman at his home in Praia da Luz between December 2000 and June 2006.

Further harrowing allegations the court heard were that he masturbated in front of a girl on a playground in Messines in June 2017.

He also faces claims he did the same to another girl, on Salema Beach in Portugal, in April 2007.
